A leading apparel company in the fashion industry is seeking a full-time Technical Designer to join its growing Product Development team. This role will partner closely with Spec Technicians and Design teams to ensure all garments meet fit, quality, and construction standards from development through production.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee fit and construction from proto through TOP/Bulk for assigned categories.
  • Review and approve measurements on proto, fit, PP, and TOP/Bulk samples in collaboration with Spec Technicians.
  • Develop and maintain detailed tech packs, including measurements, construction details, sketches, and comments.
  • Create, refine, and manage Points of Measure (POM) based on garment type and brand standards.
  • Lead and/or participate in fit sessions; evaluate fit on live models or mannequins and provide clear, technical comments to factories.
  • Identify and resolve pattern, construction, and grading issues to achieve consistent fit across sizes.
  • Communicate daily with cross-functional partners (Design, Production, Merchandising, and overseas vendors) to drive on-time, quality execution.
  • Translate design intent into clear, actionable construction and finishing standards.
  • Ensure that all technical documentation is updated and accurate prior to production release.
  • Support continuous improvement of block patterns, fit standards, and technical processes.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in Technical Design within the apparel or fashion industry.
  • Strong understanding of pattern making, grading, and garment construction across multiple fabrications.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Excel; ability to create detailed flat sketches and organized measurement charts.
  • Experience working with tech packs and communicating with overseas factories/vendors.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple styles and deadlines.
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and follow-through skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with an ability to identify fit and construction issues quickly and propose practical solutions.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including precise technical commenting.
  • Degree in Fashion Design, Technical Design, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
