Role: Associate Director, Paid Social (Freelance) – New York, NY
Overview: Lead paid social strategy, planning, and execution for clients while managing a junior team and partnering closely with internal departments and clients.
Time Zone: PST
Location: Los Angeles or Remote
Rate $55-58/hr
Duration: 2-3+ months
Key Responsibilities:

Relationship Management (20%) – Serve as day-to-day contact for internal teams and clients; build cross-team relationships; anticipate needs; apply client/industry knowledge; act as escalation point and trusted advisor.

Social Strategy & Buying Oversight (25%) – Lead paid social strategy and planning; oversee RFPs, partner negotiations, media plans, POVs on trends, QA of tracking and creative, and financial tracking documents.

Team Leadership (25%) – Manage and develop junior team members; set goals and growth plans; conduct reviews; identify training needs; delegate work; support hiring; drive broader team initiatives.

Campaign Management (5%) – Oversee campaign setup, targeting, optimization, pacing, and measurement; ensure accurate tagging; troubleshoot execution issues; approve insertion orders.

Social Planning (10%) – Create and present RFPs, decks, and media plans; integrate research, data, and social insights; manage deliverable calendars.

Reporting & Analytics (5%) – Review performance analyses; guide optimizations; work with analytics partners to standardize reporting; own testing and learning agendas; coach juniors on insights vs. results.

Preferred Skills & Experience:
- 5+ years of paid social media experience.
- Hands-on Facebook and Instagram buying experience (other platforms a plus).
- Solid grasp of marketing, analytics, and measurement.
- Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills.
- Experience with advanced targeting/retargeting and owning social budgets.
- Track record leading full social strategy with partners, clients, and internal teams.
- Proven leadership and supervisory experience developing media professionals.
