Position: CAD Artist – Junior & Young Contemporary Apparel

Location: Los Angeles, CA (Onsite)

About the Role

A leading junior apparel company is seeking a talented CAD Artist with strong experience in private label apparel for major retailers. This role is focused on creating CAD’s and working with Graphics team to recolor print repeats, and colorways for a variety of categories, including juniors, girls, women’s, and occasionally boys and men’s.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create detailed CAD layouts, all-over prints, and graphics for junior and young contemporary apparel programs.
  • Develop colorways, repeat patterns, and artwork presentations tailored to private label programs for large national retailers.
  • Translate trend direction, inspiration, and line plans into clear, production-ready CADs.
  • Work closely with design and sales to build cohesive collections that align with retailer aesthetic, price point, and calendar.
  • Prepare accurate artwork files, color standards, and layout pages for overseas factories and internal production teams.
  • Update artwork and CADs quickly in response to buyer feedback, color changes, and fit sample comments.
  • Maintain organized digital artwork libraries, color palettes, and pattern archives.
  • Support development across multiple divisions, including kids, juniors, women’s, and select boys/men’s programs as needed.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a CAD Artist , Assistant/ Associate Design in the apparel industry, with a strong focus on juniors or young contemporary.
  • Proven background working on private label programs for large retailers (experience with Target, Walmart or similar mass retailers is strongly preferred).
  • Advanced proficiency in Photoshop and Illustrator for print, pattern, and graphic development.
  • Strong sense of color, trend, and print direction for the junior market.
  • Ability to create production-ready repeats, screen separations, and clean files suitable for overseas production.
  • Comfort working on fast-paced calendars with multiple seasons and deliveries in development at once.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and file management.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate closely with design, merchandising, and sales.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience developing CADs for private label programs for both discount and big-box retailers.
  • Background working across multiple divisions (kids, juniors, women’s, and/or men’s).
  • Understanding of domestic and overseas production processes and timelines.

Compensation & Employment Details

  • Salary range: $55,000 – $75,000 annually, based on experience and skill level.
  • Full-time role with potential for long-term growth.
