Job description

Our Client, an Apparel Company on the North Shore of Massachusetts is looking for an Associate Designer to join their team for a contract to permanent opportunity. 

Primary Responsibilities:

Coordinate and manage product development process between production, design and our overseas vendors to ensure timely and accurate approval and development processes.
Responsible for auditing BOMs and TPs before handoff
Work with the Design and Production Teams to translate product concepts into technical drawings via Illustrator
Ensure size and fit consistency within brand and across product category through creation and maintenance of Tech Packs that accurately capture all aspects of design, including: garment measurements, grading, and detailed technical sketches and construction details.
Review all sample prototypes that come back with regard to construction and fit and match back to initial tech pack.
Measure accurately all protos, SMS's and fit samples prior to fittings.
Prepare fit samples prior to fittings and participate in fitting with designer and production team.
Communicate all fit corrections including detailed construction changes or pattern changes in tech pack.
Inspect TOP samples to match PP approvals
Develop and edit tech packs, documenting fit comments, specs. and PP/TOP comments
Execute and monitor seasonal styles from development to production to maintain production calendar, and escalate to management accordingly.
Communicate daily with overseas factories on all fit changes and any change that may affect delivery as well as answering any of their questions.
Work closely with production team to ensure quality garments
Liaison with Design, Merchandising, Operations and Production.

Background and Experience:
1 plus  years of direct technical design experiences in women’s wear experience (required), Children's Apparel experience (preferred)
1 plus  years of product development experience, ideally with apparel and consumer facing digital/ecommerce business
Experience with an early to mid-stage start-up
Understanding of garment manufacturing and product development process from inception through production
Strong technical drawing skills
Computer skills, including proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Excel.
Bachelor’s degree in Clothing & Textiles or related major or equivalent business experience
Willingness to learn and a strong passion for fashion, while seeking growth and longevity
