APPAREL DEVELOPER

As an Apparel Developer, you will help lead a team in the development of Apparel and Accessories. Developer must have strong leadership experience, an understanding of new technologies in the fabric and apparel industry, and proven experience in the application of innovations into product lines. You will lead the product development process in partnership with a Project Manager and the creative team to ensure deliverables and timelines are met and to push to meet and exceed customer expectations. You must have expert knowledge of apparel construction, costing, and design to effectively lead the team to reach target prices. The ideal candidate will set a high standard of excellence and efficiency, will train others, and strive to continually learn new skills and best practices to enhance all brands.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Apparel Design/ Development
  2. Minimum 5 years related experience
  3. Ability to act as a technical resource and mentor others; lead initiatives and project team
  4. Proven management skills in leading a team through a complete apparel life-cycle process, from concept to 100% commercialization.
  5. Advanced knowledge of the apparel development process, including but not limited to pattern-making process, grading, fit, construction, costing, manufacturing, and textiles.
  6. Demonstrated skills in problem solving and resolution
  7. Ability to interpret design intent and offer alternative solutions
  8. Ability to understand challenges or underlying concerns, share ideas, and develop effective responses or elevate to higher direction
  9. Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills
  10. Experience in working with a global network
  11. Ability to exercise a high degree of professionalism.
  12. Accustomed to working in a rapidly changing environment and Ability to manage a high workload and multiple projects
  13. Ability to travel 10-20% including International travel

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Work with designers and customers to build technical design and tech packs, inclusive of BOMs and POMs.
  2. Work with designers and customers to ensure price targets and construction goals are achievable.
  3. Innovate and develop concepts, fabrics, trims, and styles with knowledge of technical fit, fabric performance, and end-use of the garment.
  4. Reverse engineer product where applicable.
  5. Maintain all testing standards are followed for all styles, all brands.
  6. Identify key fabrication and trim opportunities by the brand to evolve assortment mix and drive sales.  
  7. Partner with account Project manager and creative team to drive price, MOQ, and lead times for fabrics and trims.
  8. Ensure development is managed in PLM system and assist others in managing the system.
  9. Hold meetings with customers, internal and global teams whenever necessary to ensure collaboration and efficiencies.
  10. Lead meetings with customers and co-workers to bring closure to development.
