Denim and Sportswear Assistant Buyer
Our client is a well-known advanced contemporary multi-brand retailer that is seeking a new Assistant Buyer to support their merchandising strategy, open to buy process, business analysis, purchasing, allocation, flow of goods, team relationships and communication. The ideal candidate will have a strong ability to self-motivate & drive initiative, while having a deep understanding of our brand and customer.
Assistant Buyer Role
· Provide support to the Buyer in form of operational and administrative support, as well as assisting with development of the merchandise strategy and product selection
· Ensure timely delivery of merchandise through consistent communication with vendors, distribution center, and buying team
· Manage timely entry and maintenance of purchase orders and assists with writing orders
· Assist in the completion of business recaps with direction from the Buyer and Buying Director
· Participate in markdown, allocation strategies using knowledge from competitors and customers by market, and prepare information for line reviews
· Partnership with design and production to manage on order, pricing and deliveries
· Communicate to stores using the appropriate communication channels
Assistant Buyer Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in business or fashion related discipline
· 2+ years of experience in a multi-vendor or luxury brand environment
· Strong analytical ability and retail math acumen
· Keen fashion sense and trend forecasting ability
· Excellent written and verbal communication, along with strong organizational and problem solving skills
· Proficient with Excel
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multi-task and maintain attention to detail
