Job description

Reporting to the director of marketing strategy, the associate director plans, creates, and manages the production of content in partnership with advancement staff in business units within the Foundation. The associate director works within Strategic Advancement Communications departmental processes, assisting in the ongoing normalization and consolidation of communications resources throughout the foundation; the application of best practices and consistent processes; and the integration of campaign themes, priorities, and standards to all work. Specific duties include the following: • Creating marketing/communications plans in collaboration with development and alumni engagement professionals • Serving as advancement writer and editor • Building teams for the execution of foundation and alumni association projects • Working in the department’s project management platform • Assuring uniform process and documentation for all ongoing work with partners • Ensuring all audience-facing work reflects the value proposition and adheres to its content strategy • Integrating campaign communications—themes, priorities, messaging points—into general communication strategy and content • Building teams around specific work areas and projects Qualifications Required: • BA in English, Communications, Marketing, Business, or similar field • 5-7 years’ experience in advancement communications, marketing, and/or professional writing • Experience creating and managing the development of marketing content for integrated campaigns • Outstanding writing and editing skills with demonstrated skill and experience writing in in Chicago/AP styles • Exceptional organizational and project management skills • Understanding of and some experience in the following: video production; visual identity systems; copyright law; print production; and web, email, and social media marketing and metrics • Experience creating and executing integrated, multi-channel marketing campaigns Preferred: • Master’s degree in English, Communications, Marketing, Business, or a related field • Experience in higher education advancement communications • Experience in communications for comprehensive campaigns in higher education
