Job description

As a Buyer Assistant you will play an integral role in optimizing our inventory positions by supporting our Purchasing team. We manage over 800 SKUs, across seven distinct brands, at multiple warehouse locations. Monitoring an item’s performance and forecasting demand is critical to running a healthy business and maximizing sales and profitability. You will learn how the entire supply chain operates, how to utilize analytics to make data driven decisions, and how to communicate effectively. These are business fundamentals that will take you far in any future career path. We are passionate about people development and you will receive mentorship and coaching to set you up for success. This is a great role for a new graduate with solid internship experience or someone with a couple of years working in a professional environment.      

 

What you'll be doing:  

  • Monitor sale trends and investigates spikes and dips as input into items’ projections and future POs 
  • Place and revises POs with vendors
  • Assist with containerization of shipments by location 
  • Assist with customs clearance and import documentation 
  • Separate POs by distribution center to ensure the right allocation and manage target allocations (e.g., how many units of each item are needed at each location) 
  • Develop reports on an ad hoc basis focused on performance, stock positions, and trends by category (e.g., dressers, seating), vendor, or collection level 
  • Prepare slides and reports for cross-functional, executive, and vendor meetings 
  • Review vendor invoices and support the Purchasing / Operations department

 

What you bring to the table: 

  • Extreme attention to detail – you triple check all emails and deliverables and take pride in getting it right the first time
  • Strong organizational skills – never let anything slip through the cracks, time management is your forte  
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills – communicate to be understood in a concise and clear manner, bring a point of view  
  • Strong analytical skills – use logical structuring in understanding problems and in creating solutions, don’t rely on others to tell you what to do   
  • Adaptable and flexible – priorities change on a daily or hourly basis, you can pivot, adjust your schedule and re-focus 
  • Team-oriented -- you jump at the chance to help a team member when assistance is needed
  • Intermediate Excel and PPT skills 
  • Bachelor’s degree is strongly preferred, otherwise 1-2 years of working in a professional environment
