Job description

Our client, a D2C swimwear brand is looking for a Director of Acquisition to join its Growth marketing team. This is the opportunity to be a rising performance marketing leader within a fast-growing, well-funded DTC brand. In this role, you will manage our sizable media budget, overseeing all performance marketing (paid social, paid search, affiliate) and media channels (TV, OOH, etc.) driving new customer acquisition. The key objective of this position is to enable the brand to reach its top line growth goals through profitable acquisition of qualified new customers.

The right candidate for this role will be both creative and analytical. They will be truly excited about the chance to use our paid media budget to tell compelling stories that attract, engage and convert our target audiences. This will be a highly cross-functional role, working with the larger Growth Marketing Team and colleagues in Brand, Design, Merchandising and Planning. 

The Director of Acquisition will oversee one team member to start and will report to the VP of Growth.

Responsibilities

  • Own our paid media strategy, developed in close partnership with our external agency and the VP of Growth
  • Oversee all digital and traditional media buying, largely via third-party agencies
  • Lead our internal effort to diversify away from Facebook/Instagram advertising; evaluate and test new channels
  • Collaborate with colleagues cross-functionally to ensure paid media messaging supports launches, promos and other important commercial and company moments
  • Partner with our Director of Planning on demand forecasting 
  • Utilize consumer insights available to understand target audiences; develop media plans to reach and convert each
  • Brief the creative team on assets to support to each channel, initiative, audience and objective; provide feedback and approve assets in a timely manner
  • Monitor daily paid media performance metrics and partner with key agencies on strategy adjustments that balance top line goals and profitability 
  • Develop an attribution system that provides better insights into the impact of our media and marketing investments; review tools available with our agency and make a recommendation
  • Propose a reporting framework and cadence that provides actionable insights; partner with finance to automate
  • Oversee the development and execution of other acquisition channels, including influencer and affiliate
  • Manage daily communication with external agencies, ensuring all key partners have the information, assets and feedback needed to execute successful media campaigns
  • Manage and grow the performance marketing team
  • Closely follow trends in performance marketing and new media and make recommendations for pilots and tests to run

Requirements

  • 5+ years of performance marketing experience
  • Deep understanding of ad platforms and performance metrics
  • Exposure to and/or experience in managing multi-million dollar campaigns
  • Creative thinker, with a genuine interest in developing unique and compelling ad campaigns to achieve growth goals and make a lasting impression on consumers 
  • Familiarity with the current paid media landscape of new and « renaissance » channels 
  • Keen business sense, with the drive to achieve top line growth goals while maintaining profitability 
  • People management skills and ability to grow a team
  • Energetic team member with a positive mindset and can-do approach
  • Excellent communication, time management and prioritization skills 
  • Willingness to be on call as needed for night/weekend/holiday ad performance monitoring
