Director of Purchasing and Planning Overview:

As the Director of Purchasing & Planning you will join the Operations team at their headquarters located in Miami, Florida. Reporting to the SVP of Operations, the selected candidate will oversee inventory, supplier, and inbound logistics management.

Director of Purchasing and Planning Roles and Responsibilities

  • Inventory Management
  • Manage & drive improvements in the S&OP process with data-driven decisions, leading to improved forecast accuracy, service levels and working capital
  • Work with other functional business leaders in distribution, QA, finance, marketing, and sales to improve the forecasting process and overall planning execution to sustain high levels of customer satisfaction, while reducing costs and improving working capital turnover
  • Oversee Purchasing team to ensure timely issuance of orders with inventory balanced across all global warehouses
  • Evaluate cost/benefit of forward buys, price breaks, and other inventory opportunities including utilization of inbound shipping
  • Run cross-functional S&OP meeting
  • Implement process improvements and tools that will enable long-term company growth
  • Report on KPIs as needed across Supply Chain providing clear actionable feedback with a solutions-oriented lens
  • Supplier Management
  • Address supplier issues, performance, and strategic initiatives to ensure supply continuity
  • Work collaboratively with suppliers to build in required capacity to meet forecasts and support their planning and resource management
  • Work effectively cross functionally to ensure new product launches have inventory to hit timelines
  • Drive continuous innovation for improvement in safety, quality, and cost metrics
  • Inbound Logistics Management
  • Work with our international and domestic freight vendors to forecast demand, optimize cost vs. service, and ensure on-time delivery of goods
  • Optimize freight spend by overseeing rate negotiations and optimizing container fill as well as ports of export
  • Monitor and report on freight forwarder performance
  • Ensure consistent communication cross functionally so that all stakeholders are informed of relevant shipment dates
  • Performance Management and Key Projects
  • Provide leadership to supply chain teams (e.g. career development, performance management, mentorship, etc.) Lead and improve Global Supply & Demand Planning Process with all markets, 3PMs, and global functional stakeholders

Director of Purchasing and Planning Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, operations, supply chain, engineering, or finance
  • Master’s degree in business administration or supply chain preferred
  • 7+ years of relevant supply chain and operations experience
  • Ability to use advanced Excel skills to drive decisions
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment in which requirements & priorities constantly change
  • An ability to be an influential and excellent communicator with strong interpersonal and listening skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, relaxed giving presentations in front of people including company executives, vendors, and customers (both internal and external) at all levels of the organization
  • Strong leadership skills including leading projects across departments
  • Experience negotiating and seeking compromise collaboratively with external and internal stakeholders at all levels
  • Fearlessly persevere in overcoming obstacles and setbacks by taking swift and efficient action and sharing best practices
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills with high attention to detail
  • A self-starter with an ability to complete tasks both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally (5-10% travel)
