Our client, a busy ad agency, is looking for a strategist to join their team! This will be full time/direct hire and start off remotely with potential for this to turn into a hybrid schedule.
The ideal Director of Strategy should be a “big ideas” thinker who is adept at working with high-performance creative teams and problem-solving through creative solutions. With an exciting client base across entertainment categories – Games, Theatrical, Series, Live Entertainment, Events and Sports.
The Director of Strategy will partner with agency staff and clients to develop campaign plans, engagement strategies and the briefs that are used to guide the creative development process, by collecting and synthesizing information into customer, competitive and business environment insights that drive program and strategy recommendations for our clients.
You’ll fit right in if you are self-motivated, team-oriented and have a strong personal interest in understanding customer behavior. Exceptional verbal and written communications skills, curiosity, synthesizing quantitative and qualitative inputs to identify trends and applicable insights are a must. Understanding how to bring project teams together and optimize workflows, commonly working across multiple departments at various levels within the agency.
Overview & Responsibilities:
Thought-leader in the evolving Entertainment, Games, Live Events and Sports media landscape, and able to bring a strong set of communication & influencing skills, a structured strategy toolkit, and a low-ego roll-up-your-sleeves approach to a fast-paced environment.
Proven experience leading teams in problem-solving and insight-driven creative exercises assigned by client briefs.
Understanding of consumer segmentation and modeling as well as customer acquisition and retention strategies and tactics.
Experience in developing strategic frameworks for targeting messaging for fully integrated, 360 marketing campaigns.
Understanding and experience in integrated marketing campaigns and related tracking/reporting
Strong analytic skills – ability to translate data into information and insights; disciplined and structured critical thinking skills.
Personal interest in and strong aptitude for understanding emerging digital technologies and the consumer channels they create; willing to learn about technical details of clients’ products and services when necessary.
Ability to work collaboratively with senior management, agency partners and peers to successfully contribute to the success of the agency.
7-10 years of experience in strategy (or similar roles) within the Film, Entertainment, Games, Sports and/or Media industries.
Ability to lead with influence – comfort working on cross-functional teams without direct-line reporting.
Proven ability to independently drive all facets of a strategy initiative from identifying the question, structuring and performing complex analyses, managing cross-functional teams across key workstreams, and presenting to clients and/or executive leadership.
Unique ability to balance analytical rigor with a bias for action – ability to draw on structures from the consulting / strategy toolkit, with a predisposition to produce fast, practical recommendations.
Strong ability to recruit diverse, dynamic talent, with experience developing and coaching teams.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills are required, with a keen sense for how best to work alongside, motivate, and guide creative teams.
Low-ego – equally comfortable giving or receiving direction, leading or contributing as appropriate, driving executive conversations or supporting as necessary.
High EQ – strong ability to ‘read the room’ and adjust approach, management tactics, and communication style as appropriate.
