Our client is a fast growing and well-known luxury color line lead by one of the leading names in the industry. They are looking for a new Director of Packaging Development to join their team!

Position Profile:

Job Title: Director, Package Development

Reports to: Head of Branding, Package Design & Development Location: Remote *

 

Main Objective:

The Director of Package Development will contribute to the brand strategy and the department goals by supporting the development of luxury custom primary and secondary packaging.

The packaging is critical to the Brand Identity. The customer experiences our package every time she applies the product. The company experience is : Luxury, quality and custom finishes. The ideal candidate must have attention to detail and a passion for aesthetics and quality.

 

Job Description:

Lead execution of development for a wide range of primary and secondary packaging that meet the needs of aesthetics/ brand identity, consumer use, manufacturing capability and a high quality threshold which is at the core of the brand packaging ethos.

 

Capabilities:

-Strives for Excellence in Execution

-Builds collaborative relationships- work closely with cross functional teams, inclusive of Marketing, Product Development, and Operations to bring product to market.

-Comprehensive knowledge of test procedures based on custom packaging requirements.

-Manage testing plans and protocols.

-Communicate with contract manufacturers and coordinate line trials to ensure package performance for manufacturing.

-Fully own milestones in development timelines

-Support and drive sustainability initiatives and continuous improvements.

-Trouble shoot technical issues (supplier, contract manufacturer, quality etc.)

-Comprehensive knowledge of decorating techniques used in primary and secondary packaging. -Research new or emerging packaging trends and technologies with a focus on sustainability.

-Lead artwork process of primary and secondary packaging, initiating and proofreading die lines for release to vendors for new launches and line maintenance SKUs

 

Ideal Candidate:

-Bachelor’s degree

-At least 7 years experience in Development concentrated within prestige Beauty/Cosmetics

- Needs to genuinely fit with the culture and values of the company

- Self-motivated, self-disciplined, a collaborator and a team player with an outstanding attention to detail

-Has a "no task too small” mentality with an eagerness to learn and solve issues when they arise in a fast paced environment.

-Demonstrates broad and in-depth knowledge of packaging materials and processes

-Resilient with the ability to shift priorities to meet rapidly evolving business needs.

-Passionate about luxury packaging and the clean beauty movement a plus

-CAD and/ or Illustrator knowledge a plus

-Excellent communication skills, to be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization and external contract manufacturers and suppliers.

-Excellent organization skills and follow up skills,

-Excellent problem solving abilities
