Job description

Our agency client in Chicago is seeking a Director, Programmatic to join their team on a fulltime basis, starting immediately. This role will ideally be located in Chicago, for candidate to go in-office on a hybrid model, however the client is open to remote for the right candidate. 

Overview: 

he Director, Programmatic role will be fully focused on helping Rise drive revenue growth through 3 core areas:

  • Partner with the client-focused teams mapped to their respective portfolio of accounts to retain current agency revenue through optimizations for client retention/renewal 
  • Working in full collaboration with the client-focused teams mapped to their respective portfolio of accounts to grow pre-existing Rise revenue through uncovering and tactically up-selling strategic client growth opportunities
    • Specifically with a heavy focus on cross-channel or full-funnel type growth initiatives 
  • Supporting new business revenue growth both directly through partnering with the Digital Strategy team on new business initiatives as well as indirectly through close collaboration with the Innovation team on the development and adoption of performance-focused Connex features      

As part of accomplishing the above objectives, the Director, Programmatic will be expected to successfully and fluidly operate across a wide variety of internal/external situations ranging from coaching internal channel managers on complex strategic initiatives, to pitching C-Level client contacts on new business opportunities, to working with VPs of Client Service to craft compelling narratives in order to sell through strategic growth initiatives.  

As such, this individual must be well versed in digital performance management with a very clear “major” in Programmatic and at least one “minor” in one or more of the following channels: Paid Search, Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Social, or Affiliate Marketing.  

In addition, this individual must be well-spoken, have strong presentation skills, understand client relationship/risk management, and be comfortable co-managing a 5+ person team overseeing large complex accounts with multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced work environment.

The Director, Programmatic Will:

  • Work within current scope to assist team in developing a robust multi-channel marketing strategy and work through team to ensure that the strategy is executed in an optimal manner
  • Partner with the Director and VP of Client Service to isolate areas of low client pulse on their assigned portfolio of accounts and act in a directly client-facing manner to build client trust, address performance issues, overhaul strategy, and help trouble-shoot client pulse concerns
  • Audit prospective client accounts and work with the VP of Media Strategy to craft the most compelling pitch narrative to address opportunities in their current account as well as stated pain points

• The Director, Programmatic MUST HAVE/BE:

  • 5+ years of experience tactically managing campaigns in the Programmatic/DSP space
  • Familiarity with one or more of the following media channels: Paid Search (PPC), Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Affiliate, or Paid Social
  • Significant client facing experience including senior level client relationship management and pitching strategy or upsell opportunities
  • Advanced level understanding of performance media management through the lens of driving full-funnel or cross-channel strategy  
  • Experience building full-funnel media plans and determining budget allocation on a yearly and monthly basis using different forecasting methodologies
  • Demonstrated experience managing strategy for a large dedicated client and/or 5+ partially dedicated accounts w/ minimums of $1mm in spend per year, while being held to a strict client goals
  • Demonstrated experience developing and managing up to a 4 person team
  • Significant experience with Excel and building roll-up reporting on team KPIs
  • Excellent English presentation and written/verbal communication skills
