Director – Strategy –Transformation PMO

About the role:

Leading the way in changing how we think and operate our business is no small task. In this role, you will be reporting to the Senior Director of Strategy and overseeing the our Transformation Project Management Office (PMO) whose charter is to reimagine the way our company operates across major areas of the business. You will be collaborating with a full time, dedicated team of PMO leaders overseeing each specific area of transformation. Your role will be to provide organization, structure and reporting capabilities that will support transparency, visibility to progress, and understanding of interdependencies across critical projects and deliverables to ultimately accelerate our work. The PMO team will drive a rigorous process to ensure decisions are made timely and definitively, with the objective of ensuring successful outcomes that generate a positive ROI. As it progresses, the PMO will identify and evaluate breakthrough approaches that can increase our efficiency and effectiveness by leveraging simple, contemporary approaches to our work.

Responsibilities Include:

• Lead the client's Transformation PMO and development of the multi-year transformation plan including overseeing quantitative and qualitative analyses and leading and partnering with cross-functional business partners.

Examples of activities:

• Be a thought leader, in partnership with cross functional leadership across the client, to determine the long-range priorities for transformation

• Liaise with business partners, proactively identifying and communicating business issues, brand priorities and sharing best practices

• Identify key issues, critical interdependencies, structure ambiguous problems, and develop workplans to drive insights

• Synthesize findings, structure presentations, and communicate action items and recommendations to senior management and cross functional leadership team to drive alignment

•  Provide leadership, direction and facilitate execution & implementation of strategic initiatives

• Orchestrate the creation and execution of a management and tracking infrastructure to provide visibility to timeline, progress and organizational and financial impact

•  Develop templates and tools to be used by PMO team that are simple and easy to use and provide clear visibility to senior leaders including presentation templates, project plan templates, Gantt charts, meeting structures, agendas, etc.

• Facilitate workshops and discussions highlighting critical interdependencies and

•  Manage project plan deliverables including timelines and financial summaries

•  Publish project statuses on a regular basis based on needs of the project and audience.

• Act as a thought partner to members of the PMO team

• Build strong working relationships with key project team members and leaders

•  Support key milestone and decision meetings and discussions with various leaders and project team members

• Partner with teams and leaders at our client. and external consultant resources as needed

Who you are:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, MBA preferred

• 10-15 years of professional work experience, preferably within retail, management consulting and/or in project management roles

• Demonstrated track record as an outstanding problem-solver and strategic thinker

•  Able to quickly identify key issues and develop hypotheses

• Able to work in and bring structure to ambiguous environments

• Deep understanding of how to link strategy to financial plans / business cases

• Very strong written and oral communicator with proven ability to communicate with senior executives

• Strong retail business acumen

• Demonstrated understanding of retail and consumer-facing businesses

• Able to assess impact of decisions on overall business

• Excellent interpersonal and people leadership skills

•  Able to collaborate effectively using broad range of influence styles to drive desired results

• Proven experience in leading teams including providing direction, understanding resource capability and successfully driving results working with internal or external resources

• Strong executive presence and command skills

• Able to identify barriers to successful implementation and capable of working with teams/leaders to mitigate barriers

• Approaches conflicts as opportunities; understands others quickly; can find common ground without comprising total position

• Very strong project and process management skills, including ability to independently disaggregate problems into defined workplans

• Able to effectively juggle multiple projects at one time

• Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently and to manage cross-functional business partners who are not direct line reports
