HR Manager for Luxury Retail Company in LA. Must live in LA and must work on site full time. 

 

MAIN JOB OBJECTIVE

The Human Resources Manager – Los Angeles Metro serves as a key strategic business partner to the Store Managers/Director and Team Managers in the Los Angeles Metro. The role supports retail in the HR function as it relates to development and engagement of talent, onboarding, recruitment, implementation and administration of human resources programs and employment policies, personnel record-keeping, and compliance with federal/state laws and regulations.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Talent Development and HR Store Support

• Identify key developmental needs and work closely with Store Management, Regional HR and Learning Manager to support and foster talent development and career growth for employees

• Responsible for supporting retention, identification of talent, succession planning, career discussions with employees

• Partner and provide guidance to support Store Management on performance management, productivity touch bases, coaching and corrective actions, including Sales Action Plans (SAPs), Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs), etc.

• Establish and maintain guidelines/communication for individual development plans

• Manage and administer the annual review campaign (communication, management support and data collection), in partnership with Regional HR Recruitment and

Onboarding:

• Manage full- cycle recruitment for permanent and non-permanent roles in conjunction with Store Management and in partnership with the Talent Acquisition team

• Source, identify and interview candidates to ensure a match for business needs and culture

• Manage hiring and onboarding for all store positions from start to finish, in partnership with the Retail Learning Manager

• Prepare compensation proposal requests and negotiate employment offers

• Respond to all hiring inquiries to positively represent our brand

• Work closely with the Store Management and Regional team members to conduct new hire onboarding and induction

• Build and partner with Talent Acquisition and Store Management to proactively pipeline candidates in the market for future openings for all areas of the business – including referrals of candidates to other local stores based off organizational and structural fit

• Responsible for ensuring the maintenance of FTE budget and partner with Regional HR to maintain staff cost, headcount, and HR KPI’s

• Maintenance of all relevant talent acquisition trackers

• Stay up to date on Los Angeles market intelligence specifically on hiring trends, competitors, new store openings, gather and analyzing data for the purpose of strategic market opportunities and development

Employee Relations

• Manage in store Employee Relations cases ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws

• Partner with Employee Relations’ center of excellence to investigate and provide guidance to managers regarding employee related concerns

• Coach and educate managers on Human Resources relations skills (evaluations, conflict resolution, interpersonal skills, communication, teamwork, etc.)

• Work closely and communicate frequently with the corporate Employee Relations team and Regional HR team to escalate matters respectively Store HR Support

• Manage the functional new hire process for all employees including securing applications, completing background checks, new hire paperwork, follow up and follow through of the full hiring process

• Manage and support interview scheduling and working with Store Management on following through

• Work closely and partner with Corporate and/or Regional HR as store liaison on notifications of any leave of absence requests, worker’s compensation intake, benefits & compensation, payroll inquiries and all other related HR matters

• Prepare and maintain accurate records, files, and reports, including responsibility for maintaining personnel records in compliance and conjunction with the corporate office; time keeping, reconciliation of hours and all HR related forms

• Maintain a strong relationship with regional and corporate HR partners and Regional Vice President

• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, as well as with company policies and procedures and their communication to employees

• Implement and interpret HR employment policies and procedures

• Consistently demonstrate skills critical for managerial success including leadership, decisiveness, flexibility and sound business judgment

• Perform other duties as assigned to meet the business objectives and goals

PRINCIPAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree required in Human Resources or related discipline required Special Skills:

• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment autonomously

• Proficiency in Excel and other Windows software

• Be able to work independently on multiple assigned tasks/projects and complete assignments within specified deadlines

• Excellent interpersonal and communication (written, verbal, presentation) skills

• Excellent organization and time management abilities

• Experience with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Work

Experience:

• 5-10 years of experience in Human Resources; retail specialty or luxury environment preferred

• PHR or PHR-CA Certification preferred
