The Marketing Automation Manager is the strategic leader for all email and SMS-related content, programs and technology, including programs like Eloqua, Validity, JG Sullivan, Twilio, and others. This individual will act as the subject matter expert for Email and SMS Marketing, effectively collaborating with IT, Marketing Services, and Field Marketing, under the supervision of the Marketing Director.  

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manages and builds overall Corporate Marketing email strategy
  • Develops and manages various corporate level campaigns, including template designs, calls-to-action, and works with Content Development and Strategy functions to create distributed content
  • Segments lists based on behaviors like past email engagement and website interactions (content downloads, site page visits, etc.)
  • Creates and implements MQL to SQL lead scoring strategy
  • Measures email campaign results and optimizes the lead nurturing workflows for these segments to convert leads into customers
  • Works to minimize list decay and unsubscribes while increasing the productivity of our email sends
  • Determines email and SMS marketing KPIs and drives toward established goals
  • Builds relationships with Field Marketing, and supports Field Marketing campaigns, acting as an advisor to build alignment between Corporate Marketing and local marketing efforts
  • Supports field marketing though email best practice advocacy, consulting, ongoing training, content creation and review, and workflow approvals
  • Assists Field Marketing team with configuration of data-driven campaigns to drive maximum deliverability and customer engagement
  • Supports field marketing though SMS implementation, best practice advocacy, consulting, ongoing training, and content creation and review
  • Develops documentation and road maps for processes, A/B tests, and promotions that maximize conversions through email and SMS
  • Researches, investigates, and remains current on division requirements and competitive (email and SMS) positioning/strategies
  • Continuously stays abreast of advancements of current and competitive marketing tools/programs to provide ongoing support, training, best-practices and recommendations to improve field execution
  • Partners with Customer Care Team to surface customer success stories and blend with the holistic company message
  • Analyzes data to get smart insights; suggests methods for improvements
  • Develops and presents reports on a monthly basis
  • Provide a problem solving and ‘point of escalation’ technical support function
  • Strategically manages ad-hoc marketing projects as they arise

Education & Experience

  • Bachelors required, preferred with a concentration in Marketing, Computer Information Systems or a related field
  • 3-5 years’ experience with email marketing, lead nurturing, marketing automation, and/or web analytics
  • Power user experience creating and executing email campaigns using Eloqua - marketing automation software
  • Strong understanding of email communication strategies -- both written and visual, deliverability, and segmentation practices
  • Experience successfully running large scope projects across multiple functional areas
  • Knowledgeable on marketing communication principles, practices and techniques
  • Understands workflow processes and systems within a sales and marketing cycle
  • Photoshop and InDesign experience a plus
  • Experience with HTML email creation, dynamic content, segmentation, forms and landing pages, and reporting (coding a plus)
  • Strong analytical and technical skills
  • Detail-oriented, with strong planning, project management and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task; ability to trouble shoot in a fast-paced environment with changing market conditions
  • Ability to problem solve and capture detailed requirements
