Our client, a Global leader in the Beauty and Retail space, is looking to bring on a Fulltime Merchandising Analyst, to start as soon as possible!  

Title: Merchandise Analyst 
Salary: $75-$85k
Schedule: Hybrid 
Location: Denton, Texas
Type: Direct Hire, Permanent Placement 
 

Overview of Role: Essential Functions:

The Merchandising Analyst is responsible for leading quantitative and financial analyses for their categories.  Through their partnership with the Merchant team, those analyses will be utilized to increase productivity and profitability of the business.  Very strong analytical and math skills are required, along with a working knowledge of category management principles. This position will partner with Merchandising, Marketing, Finance, Stores and the Information Systems team to drive change management throughout the company.

The Merchandising Analyst Will be Responsible for the Following: 

  • 50% - Category Analytics:
    • Tracking, reporting, and analyzing sales and margin trends for specific categories assigned by the GVP of Merchandising Operations.
    • Pulling, interpreting, and modeling data from multiple sources (P&L, category reporting, promotional performance, customer analytics, etc.) to uncover growth opportunities.
    • Analytical support for, and process coordination of, annual merchandising budgeting process in partnership with partners across Merchandising and Finance.  
    • Effective communication of analyses & recommendations to the appropriate Merchant partner and Merch Services leadership.  
  • 25% - Whitespace Opportunity Assessment & Business Case Building:
    • Drive impact by uncovering opportunities for sales and margin growth through detailed analytics on customer insights, market and sales data
    • Identify unique category and brand opportunities for growth through the intersection of customer needs, domestic and international benchmarks and strategy
  • 25% - Ad hoc analytical requests from manager (GVP of Merch Services)

The Merchandising Analyst Must Have the Following Skill Set and Competencies:

  • 3+ years in Business; retail or consumer products experience a plus, but previous experience in an analytical role is required
  • Well-developed math & analytical skillset, 
  • Methodical and logical approach to problem solving
  • Clear, concise communication style
  • Self- starter – takes a proactive approach to problem solving and whitespace opportunity identification
  • Ability to lead a cross-functional project
  • Ability to develop strong relationships with key partners
  • Strong skills in selling point of view and persuading other functions to support your recommendations
  • Ability to organize and manage a variety of activities while addressing multiple priorities and  quickly react to changing business needs while meeting firm deadlines
  • Prior experience building category strategies, business plans, and/or business cases through data analysis
  • Needs to be a self-starter to be able to develop policies and programs to meet new business objectives
  • Programming experience a plus
  • Agile learner that is looking to progress within the organization
  • Previous experience analyzing a retail P&L a strong plus
