Job description

Our client is a synthetic biotechnology and renewable chemical company seeking a contract Product Development Specialist to support the development, testing, compliance and sustainability of its skincare and personal care products. This is an exciting opportunity for anyone interested in pursuing a career in Product Development, by working with industry specialists in marketing, formulation, testing and packaging, and gain hands-on experience in the full product concept to launch process.

Responsibilities:
Research and evaluate new and best-selling competitive products for aesthetics, claims, product positioning, application and innovation
Support with the development and validation of new product formulas or formula improvements
Assist with new product feedback process of evaluating incoming lab samples, obtaining feedback internally and analyzing ingredient lists to meet brand standards
Coordinate and track all safety, stability and clinical testing samples to set product quality requirements
Create & maintain an organized physical library including all project lab masters, PPS samples, vendor comps and submits
Research raw materials and collaborate with raw material suppliers to source ingredients and innovations. Physically and digitally organize samples and MSDS sheets
Research and compile best practices for sustainability of ingredients, formulations and manufacturing processes throughout development process
Support sales or marketing needs with product information sheets or product documentation needed for product launch into retail channels

Required Qualifications:
Ideal candidate will have passion for and 1-3 years in beauty and personal care, with an interest in cleaner, safer and more sustainable alternatives
Strong organizational skills; extremely detail-oriented and sense of urgency
Must be as well as flexible and agile with constant changes and time restraints
Strong verbal/written communication skills are essential - proficiency in Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint is required
Be a team player with an entrepreneurial spirit, while projecting a professional attitude and foster a positive team atmosphere
Ability to participate within a multi-disciplinary team as well as acting autonomously as appropriate

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Sciences, Chemistry, Biochemistry and/or Public Health and Policy and has interest in green chemistry and sustainability preferred
