Job description

Our client, a fashion company, is seeking a QA Compliance Manager/Director to join their Los Angeles team. This is a full-time role for a senior to executive level candidate who will utilize his or her strategic and organizational skills to lead the development and execution of the quality assurance system to sustain product integrity and consistency at all stages for the product life cycle. This Manager will lead, implement and continue testing regulatory programs that protects and minimizes risk to the business. Not only will he or she maintain a full understanding of best practices throughout the supply chain – this Manager will also effectively ensure to provide guidance for cross-functional team members. This position requires an out of the box thinker who has shown to have in-depth experience with full scale quality control, product compliance, and social compliance programs. 

 

Major Responsibilities:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Ensure that vendors are meeting and exceeding minimum compliance standards
  • Implement and maintain routine audit inspections to ensure performance standards are being met
  • Oversee raw material testing and compliance requirements. This includes developing processes for product inspection from raw material to finish goods
  • Manage full scale bulk testing regulatory program initiatives that protects and minimizes risks
  • Expert ability to negotiate, set and approve Quality Assurance procedures for domestic and overseas vendors
  • Collaborate with cross-function team members on QA, product, and social compliance issues to create an action plan
  • Manage and streamline expenses required to implement QA procedures across the supply chain
  • Manage the collection, documentation and analysis of vendor quality data
  • Develop a corrective action plan when tests fail. This includes establishes objectives to improve overall company performance and company behavior to drive reliability 
  • Oversee the consistency in policies for new factories to ensure social compliance, production capacity, production capability and vendor standards
  • Review sample pulls and final inspections to ensure consistency with vendor practices
  • Provide guidance to vendors on bulk test reports, social compliance issues, product quality issues and root cause analysis findings
  • Lead on the development of existing capabilities and continually evolve them
  • Cultivate, interview and train junior members which includes refining their development process
  • Travel overseas to vendors to expedite product and improve processes as needed
  • Complete ad-hoc tasks and assignments as directed by executives

  • Must have a proven experience in understanding product inspection standards and testing
  • Possess expert knowledge on garment construction standards, materials and manufacturing processes
  • Expert knowledge of technical knowledge of QA procedures and standards in the apparel industry
  • Expert knowledge of bulk raw material testing
  • Expert knowledge of social compliance, production capacity, production capability and vendor standards
  • Expert organizational skills, attention to detail, and leadership skills
  • Expert analytical and decision making skills
  • Expert written and verbal communication skills
  • Expert ability to multi-task and prioritize workload to ensure decisions are met in a timely manner

  • Must be able to able and willing to lift and carry up to 10 lbs., perform frequent repetitive finger, hand and wrist motions, as well as bending, stooping, reaching, squatting, kneeling, pushing, and pulling

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • 10+years in a previous Quality Assurance or Compliance role
  • 5+ year in a high level managerial role
  • Degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Statistics, Quality or Merchandising
  • Experience with garment industry testing and inspection standards
  • Expert computer skills including Excel and Google applications
  • PLM software experience is a plus
  • In depth knowledge of fabric, apparel, materials, construction and fit

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • 7-9+ years in a management role specific to QA Compliance
