Assistant Buyer

We are partnering with our client on a contract to hire Assistant Buyer opportunity!  

General Responsibilities 

Perform all duties related to replenishment buying for assigned vendor lines: 
Write and create purchase orders 
Email (or otherwise communicate) purchase orders to vendors 
Assist in examination of all purchase order confirmations for any discrepancies and resolve the same 
Follow-up on overdue purchase orders and maintain purchase order due dates and changes as required 
Work with Accounting, Receiving, Inside Sales and Vendors to resolve any invoice and/or receiving discrepancies 
Regular review of inventory related to assigned vendor lines: 
Regularly review inventory of assigned product lines to identify “dead” or slow moving products; communicate any findings to Purchasing Manager for corrective action 
Resolve out-of-stock issues 
Resolve overstock problems 
Communicate with Purchasing Manager on any product/vendor related issues needing attention and/or resolution 
Monitor new products and vendor lines 
Maintain and adhere to regularly scheduled inventory rebalances with vendors 
Work with all departmental staff to ensure all deadlines are met and workloads are equitable, as needed. 
Maintain all assigned vendor information accurately updated in database 
Conduct file maintenance as required 
Perform other duties as assigned 

Knowledge and Skills 

Knowledge of Foodservice products and sources preferred 
Good math skills/aptitude 
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written 
Ability to resolve conflicts and disputes in a businesslike manner 
Must be able to handle multiple projects/tasks and meet established deadlines 
Must be able and willing to follow directions, and ask questions 
Must be able to independently organize and prioritize projects 
Must have general working knowledge of Excel
