Beauty Copywriter - Freelance

Our client, a growing brand in the beauty space has an immediate need for a Copywriter with beauty experience. This is an offsite freelance role that is 20-30 hrs/week for four months with potential to extend. Candidates must be able to work west coast hours.

General Summary: You'll be part of a rapidly growing team of creatives focused on voice/copy execution for newly launching celebrity beauty brands. The ideal candidate is passionate about beauty, content, and design. Not only are you able to create innovative content strategies that exceed strategic and creative expectations, you can bring a brand to life through storytelling in a variety of formats, while engaging and acquiring customers across all channels. Your stories should be in sync with brand DNA and visuals, build brand awareness and loyalty, and increase sales. To be successful, you will need to multitask across very distinct beauty brands with unique voice, working efficiently and thoughtfully with creative partners and designers to consistently deliver high-quality, on-time and on-target creative. The right fit is a creative, strategic and tactical writer who can jump in and make an immediate impact on the team.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: • Create and develop copy with emotional resonance and technical excellence through the various iterations of a celebrity brand launch • Generate on-the-pulse, SEO-rich copy to build innovative launch campaigns and acquire customers: ad headlines, taglines, quips, stories, product descriptions, scripts • Be an expert in scripting and storyboarding with a strong understanding of how various platforms influence the ideas we create • Effectively detail features and benefits of beauty products in a creative, compelling manner while maintaining brand voice and tone • Create brand launch concepts that are extendable into 360-degree campaigns and synchronize extensions across other collateral • Write, edit, and proofread copy that is personable, engaging, and on-brand driving engaging customer experiences • Interpret creative direction and adapt points from creative briefs into copy concepts and present underlying strategic thinking behind them • Collaborate with cross functional internal teams to generate stronger ideas and deliverables that meet requirements • Provide editorial guidance to other departments, third-party vendors, and brand partners • Help improve our content creation and content marketing best practices • Experience in retail, packaging, and/or digital a plus • Ensure copy maintains accuracy as well as consistent voice and style across all touchpoints • Proofread final copy to ensure consistency across all launch platforms Experience and Skills: • Minimum of 7 to 10 years, experience in copywriting and/or content marketing content for digital platforms and experiences • Big brand experience and integrated creative and content portfolio, beauty experience a plus • Independent self-starter who knows how to communicate and sell ideas verbally and in writing • Proven ability to understand complex information and translate it into effective copy • Experience working from content strategy to creating specific content for digital channels • Familiarity with digital content management systems and best practices • Think strategically and leverage real-time data to produce content whenever it is required • Prefer BA/MFA and/or equivalent experience
