Controller
Seeking a Controller for an Apparel/Manufacturing company in LA.
The ideal candidate will report to the CFO and demonstrate expertise and knowledge in Finance Management concepts, practices, and procedures. Candidate will have proven success in an Apparel/Manufacturing Financial environment or in a related field. Manages controls and applies finance, general ledger, accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and cost control principles. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish corporate financial goals. Individual will partner closely with CEO/COO, 3rd Party Auditing Agencies, Account Payable/Receivables, and Customer Service teams.
Major Responsibilities Include:
Accountable for cash management, cash flow analysis, bank reconciliation, accounts
payable and receivable
Supervise AP, AR and Payroll staff, ensuring all financial and personnel goals are met each
month (e.g. billing, receivables and payables)
Responsible for all accounting schedules, (e.g. Prepaids, Fixed Assets, Accruals)
Arrange Letters of Credit and maintain working relationships with Factors
Analyze and reengineer existing financial processes/procedures for effectiveness and
accurateness
Ensures month-end and year-end financial closings are reconciled timely and accurately
Manage all credit facilities and wire transfers
Prepare monthly schedules and reports
P&L, balance sheets, general ledger entries, and earnings analysis
Analyze operating income, cash flow and expenses
Develop and implement cost control methods
Ensure assessment of financial risks and opportunities are addressed
Prepare and ensure all inventory transactions, cycle counts, and analysis reconcile on a
quarterly basis
Research and provide resolution for out-of-balance accounts monthly
Monitor aging reports ensuring timely collection/payment
Ensure company business activity and financial position (i.e. expenses/earnings) are
forecasted accurately based on historical performance
Counsels corporate management about insurance/liability coverage.
Minimum Qualifications Include:
8-10 years-experience in Finance
Experience in Apparel/Manufacturing industry highly desirable
CPA, CMA, or MBA a must
Knowledge of GAAP practices
Extensive knowledge of finance, general ledger, accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and
cost control principles
Knowledge of apparel chargeback processes a plus
Experience in composing and publishing annual budgets for multiple divisions
Experience in financial inventory principles
Experience in conducting quarterly and annual audits
Working knowledge of
ADP systems (e.g. PayXpert, Time & Labor Mgmt, Handpunch Mgr)
Peachtree, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other accounting/billing software
Ability to maintain good vendor/supplier relationships
Ability to work in a fast paced, high performance environment while maintaining a high level
of accuracy and accountability
Exceptional follow-up skills and ability to analyze work load and plan accordingly
