Director of Demand Planning

Leading lifestyle brand is seeking a Director of Demand Planning!

As the Director of Demand Planning, you will lead the tri-branded Demand Planning team under the leadership of the Head of Americas Merchandise Planning. You will own the pre-season and in-season Planning and Buying Processes to ensure the right product is available at the right time to achieve the overall inventory management objectives while minimizing excess and obsolescence. This position will be measured against the sales and financial goals of the North American business unit. Additionally, this position must forge strong and positive relationships with key customers, the global sales team, marketing, finance, and supply chain team. 


RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Process Related Responsibilities (demonstrable experience in the following areas is required) 
Creates the baseline forecast with various techniques; utilizes historical data, current order-book trends, and statistical models to facilitate the agreement of a consensus business plan to transact against: 
SKU level forecasting, 
Product group level forecasting 
Work closely with business managers for each product category to arrive at the best forecast to drive warehousing stocking decisions: 
Owns the Inventory Purchase Process 
Reviews the purchase requisition and releases to Supply Planners 
Owns demand-to-forecast deviation review and adjustment, identifying risks and opportunities 
Owns the identification of materials for the quarterly inventory hold process 
Owns the sales-analysis process.

Identifies risks and opportunities within the forecast-to-demand translation 
Analyzes and documents key drivers in forecast-to-demand variation 
Supports the annual financial plan and budgeting process 
Manage a team of Planners across brands 
Champion performance management; ensuring systems are in place to drive top performance for all planning positions 
Ensure yearly targets and KPIs are set for direct reports, evaluate results on a continuing basis, as well as, establish individual accountability for team members success through clear, open and honest feedback 


REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/EDUCATION: 

Ability to consult, communicate and influence across range of people 
Ability to conceptualize, develop and implement new processes and improve existing processes 
Analyze and present data, and develop financially based merchandising, and insights and direction from hindsight analysis 
Strong understanding of the sales process and skill for leveraging market trend/insights to drive buying. 
Bi-Weekly Inventory Forecast for Executive Management 
E&O Inventory Analysis 
Forecast Accuracy Analysis 
Demand Variation Analysis – Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly 
SKU Productivity Analysis 
2+years’ experience in demand planning, inventory management, and seasonal buying in a wholesale environment 
Bachelor’s Degree Required 
Strong Attention to Detail and Accuracy 
Highly developed analytical and numeric reasoning skills 
Ability to balance financial realties with creative risk taking 
Expertise in building, mentoring and managing world class cross-functional teams 
Impactful communicator/influencer – the ability to sell strategies and plans to your team, cross-functional teams and leadership teams
