Director of Merchandising

Our client, a merchandise company in the EDM & festival space, is looking for a Director of Merchandising.

Responsibilities and Duties: 
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key vendors and developing collaboration opportunities 
• Responsible for establishing new vendors, vendor negotiations and buy backs 
• Analyze sales trends in conjunction with historical data, using this information to develop strategies for new product lines and planning for the team 
• Aware of timely trends in the market place via trade shows, publications and competitive shopping to develop new, exclusive products via domestic and international sources. 
• Leading the product development team to curate compelling and on-trend collections + optimizing processes with vendors 
• Working with the marketing team to present product to customers with cohesive branding and styling 
• Leading the inventory management team to ensure efficient inventory management processes and levels 
• Actively research and observe the competition on design, pricing and marketing standpoint to keep the brand ahead of its competitors 
• Leading the Merchandise Coordinator team to ensure products are being released and posted on time (Webstores & Amazon) 
• Developing team members through coaching and goal setting 

Qualifications and Skills: 
• Minimum of 5 years experience involving sales and inventory planning, sales forecasting in fashion 
• Minimum of 4 years of prior supervisory experience 
• Bachelor's Degree 
• Excellent leadership/management skills 
• Strong analytical skills with an emphasis on product, trend and sales analysis 
• Strong Microsoft office and Excel skills 
• Possess basic knowledge of international production processes 
• Ability to organize collection strategies, and create a balance merchandise assortment 
• Strong interpersonal skills and written communication 
• Strong project management skills including the ability to plan timelines and manage multiple projects 
• Detail oriented 
• Demonstrate knowledge of the target customer and of product trends; customer oriented 
• Strong retail and math skills 
• Strong decision-making ability 
• Ecommerce experience is preferred
