Director of Strategy need for HOT Ad Agency!

Our client, a well know agency located in the south bay is looking for a fulltime Director of Strategy. This position requires travel 50% of the time, but will be based-on site in El Segundo: 

Primary Responsibilities:

Serves as the Account Planner on assigned accounts.

Is responsible for defining and representing the target audience(s) for creative and integrated disciplines during the development of execution.

Crafts Integrated Communications briefs and provides clear, inspiring and persuasive briefings.

Actively participates in new business strategy development including taking a lead role in pitches.

Works directly with creatives and integrated disciplines to develop executions that are on strategy and resonate with consumers.

Plans and executes qualitative research in collaboration with the research team; presents research/strategy findings to strategy team, agency, client staff and in new business pitches.

Collaborates with research, strategy and analytics teams providing input on information needs, research design and instruments, analysis and implications on research initiatives.

Supervises and guides Account Planners and Assistant Account Planners in developing creative strategies and in briefings.

Proactively engages as a strategic partner and advisor with top agency and client management teams.

Ensures the integrity, quality and effectiveness of the planning function is consistent with client needs and the agency’s goals.

Regularly evaluates planning processes and resources, demographic data, consumer profiles, etc. to identify and recommend solutions that improve quality.

Collaborates with the media team to identify opportunities for touchpoints with the target audience.

Identifies developmental opportunities for Account Planners and develops Account Planning training program.

Works with more junior Account Planning personnel to develop and present training sessions to other Agency personnel.

Monitors and interprets cultural and social trends relevant to the client’s business.

Travels frequently to client and agency meetings, and to conduct focus groups and related research.


Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from a four-year college.

At least seven years of related work experience in an advertising agency working in a related area.

At least four years in account planning.

Relevant experience managing a team.

Exceptional written and verbal communications skills.

Complete understanding of both creative and research practices.

Proficiency with common computer programs (e.g. Microsoft Office).
