eCommerce Solution Architect


Responsibilities
•    Drives research and technical decisions around the architecture of the various eCommerce platforms (SFCC/Demandware, AEM, eComm Hub, etc.) and their integrations to both 3rd parties as well as to enterprise systems, operational support tools, development environments and other internal tools
•    Responsible for driving the eCommerce team’s cloud strategy, including future directions as well as the current infrastructure (built with AWS solutions including API Gateway, Lambda, DynamoDB, EC2, CloudFront, S3, SNS, Kinesis, CloudWatch, and thorough use of CloudFormation templates)
•    Manages and contributes to research and development projects that help us better understand platforms and technologies, creating “proof of concept” projects, and building examples of best practices and templates which can be adopted by the engineering team for production code
•    Works with other teams to understand the business needs of the eCommerce organization and offer suggestions as to how existing or future platform technologies can address those problems
•    Works with the engineering team to create a strategy to extend cloud adoption while maintaining a high level of control, security and automation
•    Provides training and guidance to the engineering team to develop best practices for code quality, including secure development practices, and works with our engineering team leads to help them craft and adopt standards and code review processes relative to their platform
•    Meets regularly with other technical and business organizations within the organization to inform and collaborate about the eCommerce platform, our development tools and methodologies
•    Represents the eCommerce team as a peer in the GIS architecture team, helping them understand more about the eCommerce platform and bringing information back to our eCommerce teams about the GIS organization’s plans and technologies
•    Continues to gain knowledge and build relationships with internal and industry technologists and is a technical evangelist for the eCommerce team, to encourage partnerships and improve recruiting opportunities
•    Works with eCommerce engineering and GIS to drive opportunities to contribute to open source development projects in areas that add value to the organization as well as create stronger community awareness of Columbia’s presence in this space (improving recruiting and partnership opportunities)
•    Creates and maintains technical relationships with our strategic business partners (e.g. Salesforce/Demandware) to ensure the organization gets access and priority to the right resources to help solve its needs
Requirements
•    Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent
•    8+ years of experience as a software architect
•    4+ years proven experience designing, implementing and supporting enterprise class transactional eCommerce systems or equivalent experience in large technical environments
•    4+ years of hands-on experience architecting solutions with cloud providers such as Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, or other related technologies
•    3+ years of architectural and hands-on development experience with AWS (preferred) or Azure, including templating (CloudFormation or Terraform), serverless (Lambda, API Gateway), security (IAM, service roles), and a good general background on common services such as EC2, S3, CloudWatch, CloudFront, DynamoDB, and Route53
•    3+ years of hands on digital technology experience working with eCommerce, CMS, web development or other related technologies
•    10+ years of programming experience working with server side languages such as Java and .Net and a strong understanding of object oriented programming concepts
•    5+ years of programming experience working with front end technologies such as JavaScript, HTML, CSS.
•    Experience with mobile and front end frameworks such as Bootstrap, React, Angular, and others
•    5+ years of experience with RESTful web services
•    Experience with responsive web design. Experience with progressive web design is a plus
•    Experience with web performance tuning and load balancing, and caching
•    Experience with SQL and NoSQL based databases
•    Strong understanding of internet security best practices and the practical use of cryptography to protect sensitive information
•    Strong communication skills
•    Strong understanding of eCommerce/retail business environment is a plus
•    Experience working with eCommerce systems such as Demandware or Hybris is a plus
•    Experience working with CMS systems such as Adobe AEM or Sitecore is a plus
