Global Sourcing and Product Development Manager


Based in San Bernardino, California OR China

The Global Sourcing and Product Development Manager is a key position within our product development team, responsible for defining our creative sourcing strategy and spearheading execution across multiple product categories and finished goods suppliers in the indoor/outdoor decor space. 

Key Accountabilities (including but not limited to): 

• Defines product development sourcing objectives and milestone-based action plans for speed to market of multiple product categories and customer requests in the indoor/outdoor home decor space 

• Develops and manages sourcing of new materials and finished goods suppliers for product development across all categories and retail channels, adhering to customers’ quality standards and pricing models 

• Leads research and analysis of new raw materials with specific focus in innovation; articulates useable insights to product development, design, and production teams 

• Evaluates US sales data and recommends new raw materials suppliers, factories, and/or changes to current vendor matrix to maximize product performance 

• Develops a deep understanding of cost competing technologies, processes, and products to guide and influence product development decisions 

• Utilizes negotiating skills and costing expertise to ensure quality/cost and deliver maximum bottom-line impact 

• Provides alternate materials/supplier recommendations to bring competitive advantage or enhanced risk management to company 

• Effectively manages supplier selection process to meet category strategy, quality, service, cost, risk mitigation and supplier performance goals 

• Drives for speed in the development cycle in order to help us be first to market

Desired Skills and Experience: 
The successful candidate will have five to seven years of creative sourcing and product development management experience in fashion or consumer products. Must have proven track record of successes developing and implementing sourcing and product development strategies across multiple product lines and distribution channels. Candidate will have demonstrable accomplishments leading a sourcing team and in managing multiple product lines. The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field 

• 5 - 7 years of relevant experience in fashion or consumer products sourcing and product development in China 

• Passionate about creating great products with an eye for fashion and home decor trends 

• Ability to fully execute ideas into market ready programs 

• Proven track record of developing creative sourcing strategies that have resulted in revenue and market share growth in the North American fashion or consumer products space 

• Experience working with top retail channels, including: Mass, Specialty, Home Centers/Hardware, Club, and Garden Centers

• Agile with demonstrated ability to deliver sourcing projects to financial goals 

• Experience working with creative product development teams in the US and China 

• Demonstrates leadership, diplomacy, decisiveness, and is results-oriented 

• Ability to thrive and execute in a fast paced & entrepreneurial culture and quickly adapts to change in priorities 

• Strong attention to detail and follow-through skills, with ability to convey ideas clearly 

• Willing and available to travel 50% - 75% of time between the US and Asia, sometimes on short notice 

• Mandarin speaker preferred, but not required
