Room Sales Director Job Description The Room Sales Director for the hotel must drive sales from a variety of sources to maximize Room Revenue throughout the year. Deciding on the right mixture of sales segments, planning constant outreach, building long term relationships with large clients, and being an excellent ambassador for the hotel are all key requirements for this role. The hotel is a 70 Room Hotel in the Williamsburg area of Brooklyn. The hotel operates a large ground floor restaurant, a 6th floor bar and a robust events business with six separate events spaces within the hotel including a screening room, ground floor garden, and 6th floor event space with city views. The hotel opened in 2012 and was the first hotel in Brooklyn with a true sense of place and purpose. The GM of the hotel is one of the owners and is on site almost every day. The hotel is positioned to do very well as the pandemic fades in 2021. The hotel has been open every day in 2020, and donated 2000 room nights to front line medical workers in April May and June. Since then the hotel has been welcoming regular guests, and the restaurant (Le Crocodile) is busier than it was pre-COVID. The hotel is well capitalized, and has a long term vision for success. We are searching for the right person to play this vital role within our organization. The correct candidate will find ways to introduce the hotel to new audiences, build robust connections with companies and groups and agents to drive the right mix of groups and individual guests to the hotel. They will build a year round strategy that ensures the hotel is full in January and February, while capitalizing on high demand in Spring and Fall. Essential Functions: • Focus on attracting new business. • Create a robust outreach plan that covers local, regional, national and international targets that make sense for the hotel. • Diversify the sources of Rooms Sales to ensure the hotel can maintain high occupancy throughout the year. • Focus on building the right mix of Group business for the hotel. • Work closely with the Events Sales team to maximize opportunities for Rooms sales in conjunction with events in the hotel and in the area. • Build and execute an agreed upon Sales strategy with support from all departments within the hotel. • Organize tours, stays, and other opportunities to introduce the hotel to Travel Agents, Press, Corporate Travel Bookers, and any other potential source of Room Sales. • Plan and attend the right Trade Shows • Plan and host gatherings of targeted TA’s and other groups who are booking travel for the targeted sectors. • Build strong relationships with those TA's, Production Companies, Music Labels, etc. who make up our existing core of high producing Clients. • Evaluate and create the right plan to partner with OTAs to drive the right sales to the hotel. • Develop and implement the right marketing strategy to support all the outreach. Ensure the marketing messages are understood and supported by all personnel at the hotel. • Investigate all the opportunities to enhance our exposure, and drive more business to the Hotel. • Provide positive, strong leadership to ensure maximum potential revenue for each week, month, and year. • Review and analyze sales data to inform strategic decisions made in partnership with Owners. • Ensure excellent communication with all clients and guests, gather information from follow up calls and present clear guest feedback to the team. • Look for opportunities to identify valuable guests and connect them with Owners, Chefs, Curators, local partners, etc. to bring them in to the family and make them feel specially cared for and connected with the hotel. Competencies: • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Excellent sales and customer service skills with proven negotiation skills. • Strong leadership skills. • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Required Experience: 1. Minimum five years of experience in Hotel Room Sales in the New York Market. 2. Bachelor’s degree in Business, Business Administration, or related field, OR 3.
