Title: Sr. Mechanical Engineer/Tech Lead
Location: Philadelphia, PA
As a Sr. Mechanical Engineer/Tech Lead, you will work alongside engineers, designers, and researchers in a dynamic development environment. You participate in the daily activities of the Mechanical Engineering team, creating meaningful solutions to challenging product design problems. You take a lead role in the mechanical design of innovative medical devices, consumer products, and commercial projects by driving mechanical conceptualization, design definition, detailed development, engineering analysis, prototyping, and technical documentation. As a Technical Lead, you also oversee the work of other engineers, enjoy the opportunity to mentor your juniors, and may engage in several projects at a time. While your primary role is technical, you are also comfortable managing projects, as needed.
-Execute mechanical design activities: CAD (Solidworks or Creo), design for manufacturability for a range of manufacturing processes (DFM), design for assembly (DFA), prototyping, testing, engineering analyses including FEA simulation, and technical documentation.
-Oversee the above mechanical design activities of other engineers as a project Technical Lead.
-Drive engineering excellence by acting as a mentor to junior engineers and working with the Director of Mechanical Engineering to improve departmental processes and procedures.
-Oversee and support the planning and preparation of client deliverables and presentations. Ensure deliverables are met per client expectations and project proposals.
-Must have Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar (advanced degrees are a plus).
-10-15 years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer, primarily in product development.
-Experience in working in a consulting environment for at least 3 years, and are familiar with how they operate.
-Familiar with every stage of the product development process, and possess technical knowledge of mechanical processes and materials.
-Background may show that you have electromechanical or conceptualization aptitudes.
-Must have excellent writing, presentation, and interpersonal skills — all necessary for frequent client interactions.
-Can successfully lead clients through the full product development process, from brainstorming and conception, through testing, tooling, and production.
-Deep understanding of mechanical engineering methodologies and tools, and are constantly finding ways to improve them.
