SENIOR PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

– Currently hiring for a rockstar leader in product development who want to join a fun and fast-growing early stage team! Women's Beauty/Personal Care Products. Seeking a highly-skilled and motivated Senior Product Development Manager to join the team. You should be super passionate with product ideation and innovation, staying ahead of product and market trends, and wanting to launch newness for a fast-growing beauty brand.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

• Analyze beauty and personal care trends in products, ingredients, formulas and packaging to propose and create innovative, on-trend products that fit the brand

• Develop a forward-looking business strategy and product plan which defines market trends, opportunities and risks within the beauty and personal care category, and develop a new product launch cadence to continue to expand the product portfolio

• Analyze market share, identify competitive strengths and weaknesses and opportunities that arise to realize additional market share, revenue, and profits through competitive positioning

• Product R&D (product, form, component innovation) directing factories and manufacturers from initial concepts through final production

• Work with our packaging designer for primary & secondary packaging design and development

• Source labs and manufacturers (domestic and international) for all new products

• Oversee BOM development and pricing strategy to maintain a healthy COGS

• QC samples of new concept products; maintain product development samples inventory and material samples for all future development

• Approve all formulas and work with compliance team to ensure US and global compliance standards are met

• Set and oversee QA standards with all manufacturing partners

• Schedule and assure timely delivery of orders of finished product based on buy plans from inventory planner

• Communicate product features and benefits to marketing and brand education team for effective marketing campaigns and product educational materials for the ecommerce site, retail partners, sales reps and field training reps; ensure marketing/product claims are legally compliant

• Collaborate with cross functional teams (creative, sales, marketing, operations, regulatory, etc) for product launch strategies and execution

• Attendance at relevant beauty trade shows and conferences for meetings with manufacturers and raw material supplies, ingredient trends reporting, competitive review, and ongoing education

• Have a keen awareness of worldwide innovations, trends, consumer feedback and competitor activity

MUST HAVE:

• Minimum of 5 years in a key Product Development role within the cosmetic, beauty, and/or personal care industry

• BA/BS Degree required? MBA is a plus

• Strong background in the product development process, including Bill of Materials development and evaluation

• Experience in domestic and international sourcing of components and raw materials

• Passionate about beauty and personal care, creative and willing to take risks to develop unique product concepts that are out-of-the-box to create new trends

• Entrenched in the world of social media with the ability to pitch unique social concepts from product perspective

• Superior writing, editing and organizational chops

• Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to develop relationships and communicate with people from different departments and all levels of management

• Outgoing, personable, engaging and friendly personality – you light up the office and are easy to work with!

• Ability to solve practical problems, multi-task and prioritize in an often-changing, fast-paced startup environment

• You are independent and a hard worker – you don’t wait for assignments and are always looking for ways to make a big impact

• Quick to execute with a focus on bringing new produce lines, recognizing that speed to market is extremely critical

• Proficient with Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint
