Our medical equipment client is searching for an experienced technical writer to join our Technical Communications team in the Product Development department. This individual will write, revise and produce technical communications including user manuals, installation guides and service guides, manage metadata and web posting, may coordinate translation into multiple languages, and may script and manage production of videos. Work will range from small independent assignments to larger team projects.
The role is full time ideally – 35 hours a week minimum. The individual will need to be on-site at least one day a week and preferably more.
Successful experience in the following areas:
• Technical writing for medical and/or complex products
• Estimating and managing technical writing projects
• Writing for translations
• Collaborating with Illustrators to optimize graphical content
• Working to functional standards and processes
• Managing production
• Working with InDesign and Framemaker
Meaningful experience in any of the following areas:
• Technical editing
• Document validation
• Video script writing
• Video project management
In addition, well-developed skills in collaboration, interpersonal communications, researching user needs, assessing and learning technical products, writing for specific audiences, and negotiating.
Position requires a BA or BS in Technical Communications, Journalism, Instructional Design and Technology, or other relevant field with science/technology classes, or equivalent experience.
Contract Length: 12 months
