Job description

The Associate Merchant is responsible for assisting the Sr Buyer or Merch Manager in all aspects of the department business in order to drive results that meet or exceed the planned financial objectives season to season and helps support administrative needs for the department. Will Assume full responsibility for a classification or classifications as assigned by the Sr. Buyer or Merch manager, while also supporting the dept. This position will help manage assortment buys, product pricing, creating, and maintaining meeting notes, maintaining vendor relationships, and help create Inspo Boards for upcoming season trends.

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Drives sales and margin through product development, vendor communications and executing all business strategies
  • Manages and updates Monthly Merchandise Incoming Styles Documentation
  • Create and manage Vendor Master Document for subset of vendors to allow visibility for all confirmed and unconfirmed orders
  • Creates Monthly Assortment Doc
  • Attend and participate in daily buying meetings with all vendors. Helps document selection of new product, negotiate costing, set retails, place orders in a timely fashion, and effectively follow up on all production approvals
  • Partners with Marketing and Merchandise Manager on Marketing Emails ideas, Daily Takeovers, Edits, and Capsule Collections as needed
  • Creates, enters + Maintains buying meeting notes
  • Review weekly selling to make suggestions and Identify gaps in future assortments, assess opportunities in the assortment, cancel on order at risk and manage RTV’s as needed
  • Manages vendor relationships including meeting scheduling, weekly selling reports, ad hoc communication, and other vendor recaps as needed
  • Proficiency in Purchase Order upload and Maintenance to support Merchandise Coordinator during peak periods
  • Attends and contributes to gathering data for quarterly hindsight meeting to discuss the buying needs + trends for the upcoming seasons
  • Helps compiles Inspo/Trends decks for upcoming seasons based off direction from leadership
  • Have expert knowledge of the VICI customer and competitor activities. Identify key trends in the marketplace and translate those trends to the VICI customer
  • Attend Weekly Fittings by Vendor

Work Environment:

 

  • Works in an indoor office/home office environment, temperature controlled

Education and Experience:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field (or equivalent work experience)
  • 3-5 years prior experience in a buying office as an associate buyer preferred
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills; demonstrated proficiency working with large data sets
  • Must have advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language fluently, and communicate verbally and in writing at a professional level
