Job Summary

The Digital Copywriter will support key company initiatives across the Home Hardware division through the creation of brand-relevant, e-commerce copy to support multiple brands and retailers. This position will write engaging content for all brand social pages, as well as owned website content. The Digital Copywriter will work closely with creative team members, as well as Marketing when necessary, to ensure accuracy of content, editorial consistency and correct brand positioning. This position will assist in addressing all miscellaneous copywriting duties, including A+ content, video scripts, paid ad copy, internal presentations and others as needed.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Write, edit and maintain all e-commerce product copy to adhere with online data standards and brand guidelines in a deadline-driven environment 
  • Create compelling copy that adheres to online data standards and brand guidelines
  • Work on scheduled projects with the ability to switch gears at a moment’s notice to meet business needs
  • Produce enhanced content compatible with our various customers’ content management software (CMS)
  • Independently perform SEO research and use findings to write highly informative, purposeful product descriptions
  • Plan, write and edit all social media content to ensure editorial consistency and correct brand positioning
  • Develop engaging social media content that drives consumer interaction and conversion to our brand websites
  • Conceptualize image needs and communicate effectively with Design team members
  • Able to adapt copy to specific brand voices and audience segments
  • Create compelling video scripts
  • Use a strong narrative style to convey brand stories
  • Write and edit long-form video scripts for how-to videos, product demonstrations and social engagement videos
  • Write and edit short-form video scripts for e-commerce product knowledge content that adhere to retailer standards
  • Address miscellaneous copywriting needs
  • Work closely with larger HHI team on internal and corporate needs, including presentation decks or messaging
  • Collaborate with graphic designers to create cohesive campaigns
  • Ensure all digital content is reviewed to meet internal legal and regulatory standards
  • Stay current with industry writing, editorial trends and competitive landscape
  • Stay informed about the work competitors are doing in the digital space and be aware of current and forthcoming trends


Required Skills
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in SEO and SEM best practices related to keyword research
  • High degree of attention to detail in a fast-paced team environment
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and content management systems
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize deadlines; self-motivated with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Ability to take constructive criticism and to seek out/act upon feedback
  • Work on multiple projects simultaneously without losing focus

Education and Experience Profile
  • Requires a BA/BS in Marketing Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or English
  • At least 4-6 years copywriting experience in digital content, advertising, direct marketing, promotion or related field
  • Strong working creative portfolio demonstrating a focus on digital strategy and execution
  • Background in retail or consumer products environment a plus
