Title: Director of Finance & Accounting / Head of Finance and Accounting
NYC METRO AREA ONLY – Hybrid 4 Days in Manhattan Office

Our client is the exclusive U.S. distributor and operator of premium accessories/watches and lifestyle brands, managing wholesale distribution, direct-to-consumer e-commerce, marketplace channels, and national retail partnerships across the United States.
The company oversees end-to-end supply chain, inventory planning, marketing execution, compliance, and financial management. As they continue to scale and optimize profitability across channels, they are strengthening financial leadership to support disciplined growth, improved working capital efficiency, and enhanced reporting transparency. This is a lean, entrepreneurial environment that values accountability, data-driven decision-making, and operational excellence.
The Role
Our client is seeking a hands-on Finance and Accounting leader, reporting to the COO, to oversee all financial operations and serve as a key partner to executive leadership. This role will drive best-in-class financial management practices, strengthen internal controls, optimize working capital, and support data-driven decision-making as the company scales across wholesale, e-commerce, and retail channels. This is a high-impact leadership role within a fast-paced environment where ownership and execution are critical.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Reporting

  • Own and oversee day-to-day accounting operations and general ledger accuracy
  • Lead monthly and annual close processes
  • Prepare financial statements in accordance with GAAP
  • Deliver management reporting packages and ad hoc analysis
  • Support executive and board-level financial presentations

Cash Flow & Working Capital Management

  • Lead cash forecasting and liquidity planning
  • Manage accounts receivable, collections, vendor payments, and credit policies
  • Monitor inventory valuation, landed cost accuracy, and gross margin performance
  • Drive working capital optimization across wholesale and marketplace channels

Planning & Analysis

  • Lead annual budgeting process and rolling forecasts
  • Build financial models to support pricing strategy, promotional planning, and channel expansion
  • Assist with analysis such as profitability by SKU, customer, and sales channel

Compliance & Controls

  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate federal and state tax compliance with external partners
  • Strengthen internal controls and process documentation
  • Oversee HR and payroll administration through third-party providers

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in finance, accounting, or audit
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA a plus)
  • Strong technical accounting and financial reporting expertise
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, financial modeling); SQL knowledge a plus
  • Strong PowerPoint and executive presentation capabilities
  • ERP experience required (SAP Business One strongly preferred)
  • Experience in consumer products, wholesale distribution, retail, or e-commerce required
