Freelance Accounts Payable Manager – Fashion

Location: 3 days hybrid in Secaucus, NJ, 2 days WFH
Pay: $55-60hr DOE
Client Overview: Our client is a contemporary fashion brand seeking a Freelance AP Manager to join their team in Secaucus NJ.
Role Overview: You will serve as an Accounts Payable Manager supporting wholesale, international, and retail operations in a hybrid work setting. This role oversees daily AP functions, drives process improvements, and partners cross-functionally to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
AP Manager Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day accounts payable operations across multiple business channels
- Manage vendor setup and maintenance in NetSuite and Blue Cherry, ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Review and approve P-card transactions in the CAR system, ensuring proper documentation and policy adherence
- Lead the 1099 process, including preparation, review, and distribution
- Investigate and resolve vendor discrepancies, collaborating with internal teams for timely resolution
- Supervise and support AP team members through training, guidance, and coverage
- Establish and enhance AP processes, controls, and operational efficiencies
- Partner with Finance and Accounting on month-end close, reporting, and reconciliations
AP Manager Qualifications:
- 5+ years of accounts payable experience, including leadership or management responsibilities
- Experience in a fast-paced environment, preferably within wholesale or retail apparel
- Strong understanding of AP processes, controls, and payment cycles
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs)
- Experience with NetSuite, Blue Cherry, Concur Invoice & Expense, and Microsoft Office
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to collaborate across teams
- Detail-oriented with a proactive, problem-solving mindset
- Ability to prioritize, delegate, and manage multiple deadlines effectively
