Analyst, Global Customs COE Overview:

The Analyst, Global Customs COE is an integral part of the Center of Excellence within the Global Trade & Logistics (GTL) organization. This role will be responsible for ensuring compliance with customs regulations and optimizing duty savings opportunities through effective management of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) related to European suppliers and the Global Duty Drawback program. This role requires a deep understanding of international trade regulations, customs procedures, and supply chain logistics. The Analyst, Global Customs COE reports to the Manager, Global Customs COE and is
supported by the Sr. Analyst Global Customs COE, along with solid and dotted line peers within the Business Partnering teams.

Key Accountabilities:

Free Trade Agreement (FTA) Management (European Suppliers):

  • Manage the FTA qualification process for goods sourced from European suppliers, ensuring compliance with relevant trade agreements (e.g., EU FTAs with Korea, Japan, etc.).
  • Collaborate with sourcing, purchasing, and engineering teams to gather necessary product information (e.g., bills of materials, origin declarations, manufacturing processes) to support FTA qualification.
  • Maintain accurate records of FTA qualifications, certificates of origin, and other supporting documentation.
  • Monitor changes in FTA regulations and communicate updates to relevant stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement strategies to maximize FTA utilization and minimize duty costs.
  • Conduct regular audits of FTA compliance to identify and address potential risks.

Global Duty Drawback Program:

  • Manage the company’s global duty drawback program, identifying opportunities to recover duties paid on imported materials used in exported products.
  • Ensure accurate and timely filing of drawback claims in compliance with relevant regulations (e.g., US, EU, and other countries).
  • Work with internal teams (e.g., manufacturing, operations, finance) to gather necessary data for drawback claims.
  • Maintain thorough documentation to support drawback claims and audits.
  • Monitor changes in drawback regulations and implement necessary updates to the program.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to streamline the drawback process.

General Customs Compliance:

  • Assist in the development and implementation of global trade compliance policies and procedures.
  • Support import/export operations by providing guidance on customs regulations, classification, valuation, and other trade compliance matters.
  • Monitor and analyze import/export data to identify trends and potential compliance risks.
  • Conduct internal audits of customs compliance to ensure adherence to regulations and company policies.
  • Assist with customs audits and inquiries from government agencies.
  • Stay current on changes in customs regulations and international trade laws.

Analyst, Global Customs COE Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in international Trade, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in customs compliance, international trade, or a related area.
  • In-depth knowledge of customs regulations, FTAs, duty drawback programs, and other international trade laws.
  • Experience with import/export documentation and customs clearance procedures.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with customs compliance software and databases.
  • Licensed Customs Broker preferred but not required.
  • Experience working with European suppliers and customs regulations is highly desirable
