Our client is an innovative and data-driven marketing organizations, hiring a Strategist with experience in traditional media buying is needed (TV and audio heavy)

Position: Media Strategist (Freelance)

Location: NYC (Hybrid)

Start: December

Duration: 3-4 months
Rate: $30-35/hr

Strategic Planning (approximately 40%)

  • Assist in the development of sound, strategic media plans with guidance and input from a Supervisor, based on client direction and a solid understanding of media principles.
  • Oversee and synthesize analysis of consumer research and competitive intelligence performed by junior team members.
  • Collaborate on the development of points of view for new media opportunities on an ongoing basis.
  • Partner with junior and senior team members to build presentation decks, assemble final draft presentations, and participate in client presentations.
  • Continue to strengthen understanding of media strategy and applications, proactively participating in internal training and development opportunities.
  • Manipulate and analyze large datasets, including TV attribution models and their outputs; collaborate on reporting for all traditional channels to provide insights and implications, and create reports to showcase findings.

Account Management (approximately 20%)

  • Build and strengthen relationships with core clients and industry partners by serving as a primary contact.
  • Own and ensure the accuracy of billing, budgets, and flowcharts.

Internal Relationship Management (approximately 20%)

  • Manage day-to-day team projects and workflow.
  • Review and proof work from junior team members to ensure quality and accuracy.
  • Manage timelines and deliverables for internal and cross-functional teams.

Mentorship & Guidance (approximately 20%)

  • Oversee junior team members’ engagement and interactions with other departments (e.g., Investment, Traffic, Operations).
  • Guide Assistants and/or Strategists in their growth within the organization and the industry at large, providing education on best practices and media principles.
  • Contribute to performance reviews of junior team members, identifying strengths and areas for growth.
  • Participate in the interview process for Assistant and Strategist roles.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • 1.5+ years of media planning experience.
  • Understanding of advanced analytics and performance media.
  • Familiarity with core marketing principles, analytics, and concepts.
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint, including the ability to discuss how these tools can and should be applied in the media planning process.
  • Solid working knowledge of basic functions within systems and tools related to media planning (e.g., media management systems, billing systems, competitive and targeting tools).
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills; able to confidently present and sell ideas internally and to clients.
