MerchantRole Overview:
Our client is seeking a Merchant for Women’s Specials/Sleep & Kids who will support the Creative Director by overseeing the merchandising for all categories in tandem with design and sales team
Merchant Roles and Responsibilities:
- Drive the merchandising assortments that meet customer needs and align with overall department strategy
- Working cross functionally with deign, sales, marketing and production to ensure that customer needs are met while ensuring profitability and resulting in increased earnings
- Daily data entry in Movex, Nuorder, and PLM uploading and updating style information
- Research new business opportunities to ensure that the brand brings in new customers while maintaining its base
- Oversee projects and ensure their quality of work
- Create roadmap for Sleep/Kids design team
- Work with the corresponding sales team to create a roadmap for Women’s Specials
- Review the linesheets daily/weekly to ensure the line(s) are well merchandised
- Assign style #s and color names
- Attend meetings with sales team regarding selling information and comps needed for FY
- Set wholesale/retail pricing
- Degree in design or merchandising with strong understanding of retail math
- 4-6 years of related experience (open to candidates with womens and/or sleep and/or kids experience)
- Understanding of the contemporary market
- Self-motivated with attention to detail · Sense of urgency and excellent work ethic
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong sense of ownership and accountability
- Strong time management skills and ability to stay on calendar
- Proficiency in Movex and Nuorder (or related systems), as well as Microsoft Office and PLM
- General understanding of fabric/color/construction/costing
- Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop skills are a bonus but not a must
