Product Development Associate, Kids

Client Overview:
Our client is a leading global apparel company specializing in intimate apparel and fashion and basic apparel for leading retailers and brands around the world. 

Product Development Coordinator Overview: Our client’s product team is looking for a Product Development Associate to support product development projects. Our client is seeking a highly organized and motivated team member to help them continue to innovate. As a Product Development Associate, your role is critical in supporting Product Managers as they develop and launch new products and monitor product quality.


Product Development Responsibilities:
•    Partners with the Merchandising and Design to ensure all development calendars with multiple seasons overlapping are maintained and all deadlines are met
•    Responsible for sending out all development sample requests and managing T&A on samples
•    Collaborate with Design and Merchandising to make sure samples are executed to design’s vision 
•    Manage samples from vendors, and keeping them organized and available for meetings 
•    Develop new fabrics and develop and maintain new ways of working based on needs
•    Good fabric knowledge of construction and finishes 
•    Ability to identify fabrics within budget guidelines to develop into products 
•    Creating fabric library and standard of core fabrics used seasonally  and maintain liability chart
•    Develop new fabric sourcing strategies and understand new technologies and fabric finishes 
•    Knows and understands all the children’s product laws and maintains them in our product
•    Work with fabric mills to review key fabric performances, including: shrinkage, pilling, color fastness, stretch, and recovery
•    Work with design to establish and maintain color palettes seasonally, conduct all lab dips and strike off commenting and libraries for kids and sleep
•    Negotiate fabric prices, minimums and lead-times 
•    Collaborate with design on SMS order placements and follow-up 
•    Other duties assigned by design and PD to support the needs of the departments

Product Development Qualifications:
•    Bachelor’s Degree in related field
•    2-4 years’ experience 
•    Must have experience in kids apparel and have knowledge of kids apparel laws
•    Strong understanding of garment construction within development and production time-line 
•    Ability to build and manager relationships with vendors and mills, as well as develop partnership with sales team, directors, and department heads
•    Proficient: Illustrator, Photoshop, Microsoft Excel,  PLM and Word
•    Ability to work quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced environment 
•    Motivated, proactive, highly organized and strong adaptability to be a self-starter
•    Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, strong attention to detail
