Senior Technical Designer, Dresses

Client overview: Women’s apparel brand specializing in evening gowns, day dresses, jumpsuits, & separates.

Position Overview: Looking for an experienced Sr Technical Designer, who is passionate about fashion and women’s apparel with strong knowledge of all areas of technical design, patternmaking, and garment construction.

Responsibilities:
• Experience with fit, style, and garment construction with a strong background in dress technical design.
• Experience with construction design, patternmaking, and alterations and grading; preferably experience on CAD pattern system.
• Ability to conduct fittings and manage all technical requirements to develop and execute processes in product development.
• Develop and edit tech packs, documenting fit comments, specs, and bill of materials.
• Manage the flow of information related to the fit process such as tracking samples and communicating with vendors.
• Manage fit and construction approval process with cross-functional partners to meet all deadlines and raise issues to appropriate level for resolution in a timely manner.
• Communicate clear direction to overseas offices and factories to support brand quality and on-time delivery of products.
• Anticipate and resolve technical, fit and quality issues during product development stage and production fittings.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and excellent written and verbal skills.
• Able to multi-task and work in a team environment.

Qualifications:
• 5+ years of working experience in women’s dresses and evening apparel.
• Associates or Bachelors Degree in technical design or fashion design.
• Demonstrated experience with patternmaking, fit, grading, garment and construction through the total production timeline.
• Demonstrated knowledge of product engineering and development as well as garment and fabric technology.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize execution of multiple tasks/projects.
• Ability to build collaborative relationships across departments with cross-functional and overseas partners.
• Effective performer in fast-paced and multi-faceted environment.
• Proficient computer skills inclusive of MS Office programs and technical design related software/programs such PDM/PLM applications; Blue Cherry a plus.
