Technical Designer, Layette 

Client Overview: Our client is a children's apparel company based in NYC.

Position Overview: As the Technical Designer, you will play a key role in developing and maintaining a consistent level of quality and fit for Girl's and Boy's layette and infant. 

Technical Designer Responsibilities:
• Work with Design and Production teams to establish and maintain fit and construction standards to ensure brand consistency and quality
• Create spec packages for each style including correct grade rules and non-standard construction details
• Accurate measurement and evaluation of development, proto samples for spec, quality & workmanship
• Prepare and lead fit sessions with Design and Production Depts
• Communicate measurement, construction and workmanship comments to vendors, including providing detailed explanations, diagrams and/or patterns as needed
• Work with Production and Compliance Depts to ensure all products meet relevant children’s safety requirements
• Answer questions via email regarding fit, specs, pattern and construction as needed

Technical Designer Qualifications:
• Minimum 5 years relevant experience, preferably in layette
• Familiar with measuring sample points of measurement to ensure submitted samples are within tolerance of required specifications
• Strong knowledge of knit and woven garment construction
• Knowledge of patternmaking, sewing terminology and garment construction
• Understanding of garment manufacturing and product development process
• Proficient in the use of Excel and MS Word; knowledge of Illustrator a plus
• Detail oriented and organized with strong written communication skills
• Team player able to effectively multi task and work independently while meeting deadlines in fast paced environment Apply for this job
