Job description

Looking for an assistant designer to support the design and production team in the seasonal design development and production process, from concept to delivery. This individual must be a self-starter and team player who takes initiative, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is excited about joining a team on a journey to accelerate transformation across magnetic me brands.

Key function will be to work closely with the Creative Director to provide support in the design/production process from conception to final production. Responsibilities include:

Creative Design
Contribute to concept/research inspiration, trends, and print development continuously throughout each season.
Work with creative director for preliminary design research, including competitive analysis; assemble presentation boards for meetings, prepare mock-ups, color-ups, inspirational photos, etc.
Contribute flat sketches and body development when requested.
Assist in any embellishment and print artwork development and formatting for submission.
Assist in creating tech packs for sampling and production, including but not limited to tags and label artwork, placement charts, and packaging.
Review lab dips and strike-off’s with design and production team, send comments to vendors and maintain color standards; review garments for fit.
Ensure accuracy of product development and production logs, line sheets, boards and design archives library; ensure maintenance of sampling and production files.
Follow time + action calendar to help manage on time delivery of all development, fabric, and samples.
Communicate daily with overseas vendors.
Assisting with photography needs, arranging photoshoots and creating photography shot lists.
Contribute to seasonal catalog design process.
Assist Creative Director with the design and execution of branding needs and packaging needs, including the creation of original designs (global packaging, PR, licensing, corporate communication and customer experience initiatives, etc.);

Skills
 2+ years’ experience as Assistant Designer
A bachelor of arts degree in Fashion Design or similar
Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.), good knowledge of Excel
Strong knowledge of print rendering and print submission process as well as vendor communication
Understanding of garment construction and FIT measurements
General understanding of color, print development and creating repeats
Experience with technical design process & creating detailed tech packs for both garments and prints
Must be highly organized, motivated, proactive and a team player
Positive attitude
Strong communication skills and ability to work well in multiple areas of development
Ability to problem solve and multitask
