Assistant Technical Designer

 Assistant Technical Designer Overview:

Our client is searching for a talented and deadline-driven Assistant Technical Designer to support the Technical Designer and Senior Technical Designer in development and engineering of products to meet design vision.

You will play an integral role in ensuring product integrity to meet customer expectations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment devoted to turning out high-quality products. They are looking for an individual who is not afraid to think beyond their scope and work collaboratively with the team to create an elevated brand aesthetic. 

The office is based in California in the San Fernando Valley with an opportunity to work remotely on occasion when there is no need to be on-site.

Assistant Technical Director Responsibilities:

•    Support Tech Designer/Sr. Tech Designer with daily tasks
•    Adhere to calendar deadlines for on-time delivery of product
•    Use PLM system to manage technical specs
•    Daily maintenance of tracking reports: through communication via email, updating fit samples that are shipped and received
•    Prepare samples for fitting by measuring and reviewing overall appearance, construction and updating PLM
•    Attend and assist in live fit sessions as needed and taking clear notes
•    Communicate daily with cross functional teams and Suppliers regarding all issues pertinent to accurate execution of samples throughout development process
•    Able to work in a hybrid environment, which may/will require working in-person/in-office for a portion or all of a week based on the needs of the business

Assistant Technical Director Requirements:

•    An individual must be able to perform each of the essential duties satisfactorily:
•    Strong computer skills including Adobe Illustrator, MS Word and Excel
•    Knowledge of PLM is a plus
•    Basic understanding of fit, balance, garment construction, and patternmaking
•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to work in a team environment, give honest, direct feedback, and able to accept feedback
•    Meets deadlines, prioritize appropriately, and maintains composure under pressure
•    Ability to multi-task, proactively trouble shoot, and problem solve 
•    Excellent follow through
•    Collaborative team player
•    Attention to detail
•    Able to adapt to a fast pace, ever-changing environment

Experience/ Education Requirements:

•    AA/BA in Technical Design, Apparel Manufacturing, Design, Patternmaking or equivalent from an accredited college or university
•    Proficient in MS Office suite and Adobe Creative suite
•    Expertise in apparel construction, fit and broad working knowledge of textiles
