The Sales Manager will partner with the Executive Sales Director to drive the sales strategy and manage the existing business within current assigned accounts by developing strategies to expand the client base, strategize product placement and identify white space opportunities based on client and marketing data feedback. Additionally, this opportunity will drive wholesale expansion by pitching our contract manufacturing capabilities, focusing on brands & retailers within clean beauty channels.


Essential Functions 
 

• Leads an account manager by mentoring, setting productivity expectations and partnering on escalated client issues for resolution.

• Analyze consumer and category research, competitive marketplace dynamics, consumption data and media trends to create strategic sales plans.

• Elevate the current team to transition from an “order taker” mentality to a “strategic partnership” mentality, partnering with brands to identify gaps in the portfolio, discuss beauty trends and continue to expand business opportunities. • Conduct strategic client meetings to expand partnership opportunities with key accounts.

• Partner with marketing to determine success factors by product category (messaging, visuals, claims) for new and existing products and determine new market opportunities for products based on market data, consumer insights, social listening, and emerging trends.

• Partner with Marketing to guide new client development activities, coordinate custom marketing assets, and provide updates on current projects.

• Directly manage escalated customer project challenges by partnering on the solution to meet launch timelines and work with cross-functional partners to execute the action plan. Partner with cross-functional teams Quality, Supply Chain and Production to align on projects, priorities, and work through any challenges.

• Review Salesforce reports to understand the project volume, and activities to ensure workflow processes and documentation are being adhered to consistently for all accounts and projects.

• Directly manage client accounts managing project timelines, direct communication and presenting innovation concepts.

• Directly manage escalated customer project challenges by partnering on the solution to meet launch timelines and work with cross-functional partners to execute the action plan. Partner with cross-functional teams R&D, Quality, Supply Chain and Production to align on projects, priorities, and work through any challenges.

• Analyze sales performance ROI vs KPIs and goals to provide strategic recommendations and plan optimization.

• Oversee the pricing process and work with the CEO on competitive pricing for specific accounts.

• Maintain a pulse on evolving product trends and identify innovation opportunities to present to brand partners. Conduct strategic client meetings to expand partnership opportunities with key accounts.

• Identify opportunities to continue to elevate the current marketing, content development and customized marketing assets to evolve with trends and beauty client needs.

• Partner with Marketing to provide guidance on the marketing calendar for social media, trade shows, and customer presentations to prioritize projects based on business needs.

• Lead career management and development of direct reports by mentoring, setting productivity expectations and partnering on escalated internal and external opportunities for resolution.

• Set a positive example for direct reports in teaching them to develop talent and managing the careers of others.

Required Education and Experience

 

• 5 plus years’ experience managing larger accounts (Sephora, Ulta, etc.) and directly partnering with retailers for "sell-in" strategies.

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Sales, and Marketing or related field.

• Demonstrated history of identifying and executing new wholesale opportunities and expanding beauty retail business partnerships.

• Must thrive in a highly collaborative, entrepreneurial, and fast-moving environment. • Highly organized and ability to combine strategic direction and tactical execution. • Analytical and critical thinking skills in a data-driven environment.

• Excellent verbal, written communication, and presentation skills.

• Track record of beating sales targets for existing wholesale customers.
