Consumer Research and Insights Manager (CPG)

Our client is pre-launch. They are in product development through 2022 before launching 2023. Candidates with product-launch and start-up experience are strongly preferred. 

100% remote with travel:

Details about travel: Minimum bi-monthly i.e., every 2 months, and sometimes monthly. They plan to bring the team together in different locations e.g., trade show E. Coast or W. Coast, San Diego headquarters, SF for agency meetings, etc. for team collaboration, innovation meetings, and key milestones. It will be combining team-building with business milestones that are driven forward by in-person interactions. It would likely be for 3-4 days, including travel time.

Salary: $60-80K

Responsibilities
•    Lead design and execution of consumer discovery initiatives across our innovation stage-gate process, providing essential insights and actionable results that address business opportunities, facilitate decision-making, and guide strategic planning
•    Manage all phases of the research process including needs identification, methodology design, survey design, cross-functional management, data mining, and presentation of results
•    Develop research plans which reflect a balanced understanding of stage-gate requirements and needed agility, applying an appropriate level of rigor given the associated risk of the initiative at hand
•    Actively manage the Company's relationship with external suppliers and consultants that provide market research, data, and survey tools to the Company
•    Provide thought leadership guided by objective insights and consumer perspective
•    Collaborate on the development of innovation opportunities and new brand launches

Preferred Experience and Capabilities
•    Bachelor's degree required
•    Minimum 3 to 5 years relevant experience in market research; ideally for a growth-stage business within the CPG industry
•    Exposure to end-to-end product development, go-to-market strategies, and commercialization processes, with an understanding of its impact to the business
•    Empathy and curiosity for how people behave and strong passion to improve their lives
•    Ability to identify strategic needs, resource key projects, develop recommendations, and lead change implementation with little or no direction
•    Proven experience with both qualitative and quantitative research techniques, including qualitative approaches such as focus groups, IDIs, discussion boards, exploratory, shop-alongs and quantitative methodologies including concept, product (CLT/IHUT), advertising, and package testing, brand tracking, awareness and usage, and segmentation analyses
•    Ability to work with large amounts of data (qualitative and quantitative), interpret insights, determine business relevance, prioritize opportunities, and identify next steps
•    Strong leadership skills and superior communication and presentation skills
•    Ability to build relationships, embrace change and think outside the box
•    Ability to work independently and energized by working in a fast-paced environment
•    Comfortable championing a strong, consumer-centric point of view
