Job description

As a Design Assistant, you will support the Design Team by helping execute a creative vision with a progressive, customer centric-approach. You will participate in the creation of tech packs, product development, sample tracking and research for upcoming trends This role requires the ability to leverage technical product knowledge with an eye for spotting trends to help build product assortments that our customers have come to expect from us.

Responsibilities:

  • Create original flat sketches based on existing trends and mainstream designs
  • Assist Design Team with fabric, trim, and embellishment research
  • Keeping line sheets up to date
  • Organize and maintain fabric, trim, and sample libraries for easy access and reference
  • Spec proto samples to ensure they are up to measurement, pattern, color, and quality standards
  • Actively participate and take detailed notes in meetings
  • Create tech packs with detailed specifications that include garment measurements, construction details, and trim/fabric information
  • Research of current events, fashion/logo trends/collaborations between brands
  • Research trends and bring in new ideas through competitive shopping, social media, websites, and runway shows
  • Collaborating with design team to come up with the most on trend silhouettes and logo direction
  • Assist Design Team with fabric, trim, and embellishment research

 

Qualifications:

  • Must have a Bachelor’s or Associates degree in Apparel Design combined with 1+ year of fashion design experience including internships
  • Ability to sketch by hand and/or with Illustrator
  • Must be proficient in Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Excel, and Word
  • Must have strong interest in fashion design, logo and license collaborations, commercial color sense, pattern merchandising ability, and general market knowledge
  • Knowledge of fabric and garment construction
  • Knowledge of different printing methods
  • Must be self-motivated with the ability to work independently
  • Must be a team player, open to taking direction, and able to work well under pressure
  • Experience on carting CAD 2D drawings, creating tech packs and editing line sheets
  • Must be willing to work in a fast-paced fashion environment
  • Strong time-management skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
