Client Overview:Our client is a Women's Luxury Fashion brand with elevated, polish styles. The brand is known for using traditional Japanese techniques on modern silhouettes.
Designer RTW Overview:
The designer is responsible for assisting in the overall design and development of the seasonal collection under the direction of the head designer and creative director. Contributing concept research, sketch ideas, fabric and textile research and development, and completing design tech packs.
Designer RTW Responsibilities:
• Assist in R&D of new fabric and techniques
• Assist in design and development of seasonal collections
• Research seasonal concepts and assist in design under the guidance of the head designer
• Have the ability to interpret and design into key seasonal ideas presented by the head designer in an innovative but commercial way
• Create and render artworks by hand and/or illustrator to develop new artworks and layouts for embroidery, embellishment, print and surface design
• Email daily communication to Japan team
• Create and maintain design line sheets
• Work closely with design and development team in Japan from conception to follow through
• Attend all design and garment fittings
• Manage and adhere to Time and Action Calendar
Designer RTW Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in fashion design
• 3-5 years’ experience in Design and/or product development
• Knowledge of fabrics
• Excellent time management skills and interpersonal skills
• Excellent verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in fit, fabric development, finishes and construction details
• Computer skills a must – Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, MS Office suite
• Strong sense of color and awareness of print/pattern trends
• Exceptional hand drawing skills & sketching
• Ability to work cross functionally between the NYC and Japan teams
