Job description

Our client, a Japanese video game developer, publisher, arcade manufacturer and distribution company who is looking for a Director of Community management.
- Location: Irvine,CA
- Hybrid (1-2 days onsite)

Are you passionate about games and players to lead a team of community managers. Use your experience and insights to build best practices within the organization and, above all, engage and grow our communities with meaningful player experiences. Serve as a leader within the organization to ensure the voice of the player is heard. Unlock the power of content creators across a blend of different gaming genres. Identify the latest trends and integrate them into strategic planning and execution. Collaborate with brand teams and studios around the world to build fandom around company and our diverse portfolio of games.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lead and develop team of community and social media experts across a diverse portfolio of gaming IP.
  • Ensure the voice of the player is heard by game developers and that players are hearing from our developers.
  • Collaborate with business units across NA, Europe and Japan to define and implement the overarching community strategy for the  brand & Social Channels.
  • Identify and manage agency partners to produce great content and maximize engagement.
  • Develop an overarching content creator strategy to ensure we are partnering with the right creators in the right ways.
  • Provide expertise and strategic guidance across all relevant social media platforms. Communicate the latest trends across the organization and ensure their integration into plans.
  • Identify key KPIs and metrics to be used across the organization. Oversee regular reporting on growth, player engagement and ROI of key activations.
  • Partner with brand, communications, and development leads to ensure that community initiatives are true to our games and are serving our players.
  • Raise the visibility of community, social and content creator activations with studio and executive leadership.
  • Work with media teams to develop organic versus paid media strategy for social
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Experience leading teams & managing a global community for consumer & entertainment brands preferably in the gaming industry.
  • Passion for video games and serving fans within pop or gaming culture.
  • Deep understanding of social media platforms and ability to implement best practices and trends.
  • Experience working with content creators in authentic and innovative ways.
  • Ability to work across a diverse portfolio of products and operate effectively within a fast-paced environment.
  • Highly collaborative team player who communicates effectively with a diverse group of colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with social/influencer/community analytics and the ability to turn insight into action.
  • Open to flexible hours while working with overseas teams.
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience.
  • Experience working with a Japanese games publisher is a plus
  • 7-10+ years of community management / social media experience with demonstrated success in managing a team responsible for online engagement programs.
