Job description
The Director, Sales will be responsible for directing and planning for U.S. sales and Global planning for our client This position is responsible for preparing sales budgets/projections, delivering on expected budgets, while working closely with teams to plan inventory and sales plans to achieve results. This person will have excellent interpersonal skills and will serve as the face of the brand to internal and external partners, developing and creating relationships with key accounts.
What You'll Do
Develop a seasonal / annual business plan (by account) that details growth objectives, category objectives, distribution objectives, and promotional plans
Track and analyze key metrics to help increase sales budgets
Work closely with NuOrder team to get strategies implemented to provide sales tools to achieve sales goals
Work effectively with the brand, merchandising and the sales team to maximize the brand distribution within brand approved account base
Set price targets and margin thresholds for entire product lines with merchandising
Help develop the product construct to provide better visibility to sales needs
Plan and direct the hiring of all sales representatives
Advise dealers and reps on pricing and SOP’s
Determine and sell the most effective merchandise mix and prepare stock to sales plans (by month) where appropriate
Define and execute territory sales plans and expectations for sale steams
Understand the product engine through the entire process from design brief to product end inventory and what the process and challenges are created – need to problem solve all aspects of this chain
Make data informed decisions to drive performance and resource allocation
Identify emerging markets to increase sales
Work closely with the merch team to identify opportunities for sales
Attend trade shows, steer committee meetings, key account meeting, and pre-lines as deemed necessary
Work to help plan the buys per season with the merch team giving sales insight
Gather and report sell-thru information weekly
Handle and resolve customer complaints regarding products and services
Determine seasonal line breaks and off-price strategies to increase margins
Work closely with internal teams to liquidate old season product and ownership of inventory providing dates and gates for off price
Work with global teams to help plan the seasonal objectives for each distributor
Work closely with finance team to be sure we plan budgets for the year and adhere to expenditures per plans
Maintain relationships with retail buyers through on-site visits, pursue new accounts and avenues of distribution.
Enhance overall sales and marketing efforts by reporting on market trends, market feedback, and competitors’ efforts
What You'll Need
Supervisory experience is a plus
Thorough knowledge of product and ability to demonstrate product effectively
Strong written and oral communication skills
Must have strong management skills
Excellent organizational, prioritization, time management and multi-tasking skills
Accuracy and attention to detail
Must be a self-starter and able to work independently
Knowledge and proficiency of sales tools such as AS400, QlikView, Unity
NuOrder training a must as there is much to be implemented to be successful
Must have strong follow up skills
Excellent follow through
Experience successfully selling into the active, outdoor and/or sports channel, or experience with a major brand in these channels is a plus
