Job Purpose:
• The role of the Accountant is to serve as a key member of the Accounting team to ensure the accurate and integral
reporting of financial statements.
• This position's main responsibilities are to oversee all sales aspects of the Retail Stores and working on monthly
close, including balance sheet reconciliations.
• This position is responsible for applying principles of accounting to analyze financial information and providing
management with financial information/reporting by researching and analyzing accounts.
Reports to: Director of Finance

Key Tasks

Account Analysis
• Prepare balance sheet and expense account reconciliations
• Ensure balance sheet account analyses are updated monthly and analyze the account activities
• Prepare payroll related journal entries based on payroll registers
Accounts Receivable & Cash Account Management
• Updating daily cash receipts for credit card sales and daily cash deposits from stores
• Investigate any discrepancies in cash receipts
• Update daily cash balance to monitor cash position
• Deposit all checks received at Corporate and code appropriately
• Update and report cash balances to the company HQ
• Prepare and post entries based on banking activities (i.e. sweeps, transit/insurance payments)
• Bank reconciliations

Month End Accounting
• Posting of sales related entries for month-end close
• Prepare and post journal entries, including recurring entries
• Update and maintain the deferred rent schedule, and post related journal entries
• Update financial statements and supporting documents
• Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data
• Prepare and report Cash Flow schedules

• Prepare and file monthly sales and use tax with all applicable states
• Prepare and file other taxes, such as property taxes, business taxes, business licenses, etc.
• Work closely with any third party vendors providing professional services related to taxes
• Assist with state/local audits (use tax, financial audits, federal/state tax, etc.)
• Assist with preparing tax returns and corporate reporting requirements, if applicable
• Assist in documentation and monitoring of best accounting practice
• Assist with store opening tasks (obtaining new merchant #, filing of business licenses, etc.)
• Develops and implements accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures and recommend changes for continuous improvements
• Other projects as assigned Criteria Essential

Academic Qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher Degree in Accounting or Finance

• Strong knowledge of SAPERP
• Strong understanding of accounting theory
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (i.e.; Excel, Word)
• Knowledge of MS Excel functions mandatory (formulas, Vlookup, Pivot
Tables, Macros, etc.)
